Dilliwalas, please consider a little detour via Jantar Mantar today (or tomorrow) to support hundreds of NREGA workers from 15 states who are demanding their rights including timely wage payments.

Cross-pollinating between literature and films was a long time thing in Malayalam. But that wasn’t happening much recently. M.Mukundan’s story made into the film #Mahaveeryar does that again. Watch it! (Now in theatres) It’s funny, quirky and triggers a few thoughts.

Good to know that #Mahaveeryar is still running in theatres in Kerala. I was happy it got a week in Delhi considering how unconventional it is. Mallika Sukumaran & Nivin Pauly are so funny in this film :) And like you said, it's thought-provoking. Flawed, but still nice.

Many people share links from extreme RW websites that are yet to be viewed as mainstream media, to criticise them for propaganda, fake news & hate. PLEASE.STOP. Quote-tweeting is amplification. They don't mind your criticism. They are just grateful that you acknowledged them.

#HetalGada and #KrrishChhabria were such darlings in this film, without for even one second being irritatingly precocious as some child actors are made to be by directors who are not #NageshKukunoor :) :) #Dhanak

The caste denialism, trivialisation of caste concerns and anger in response to this simple tweet is exactly why it is important to amplify it. Please RT, tell friends and colleagues. 👇🏽

Another unimaginative attempt by #Poopindia to discredit an independent vocal woman .. Doesn’t seem like @MahuaMoitra ever tried to ‘hide’ her branded bag.. She had a flourishing corporate career & bought branded items with her own hard earned money? Haw! How ‘controversial’ 🙄

I guess maybe if you have a few extra supercars that are a couple of yrs old and want a reason to write off one of them and buy a new one. (Like I had a 2yo mobile handset which got soaked in a puddle and I was happy as I got to change it.)
Why oh why are you not doing stand-up comedy? How many times do I have to ask?

A national English daily was the first to have an interview with Mohammed Zubair after his release. But it’s not been published till date. In another time, this paper would’ve gone to town with the interview. But a phonecall stopped it? That’s the talk in its newsroom. @zoo_bear

Lovely thread on #Kerala's love for #MohammadRafi. There is so much beauty & joy that unites us ❤️ Don't hand over victory to those who seek to divide. @NSMlive 🙏🏽
Today is the 42nd death anniversary of the great Muhammed Rafi. No other state would have as many Rafi admirers and clubs as Kerala. Rafi Nights are part of Kerala’s repeated trysts with him. It all started on 18th April 1953, at Patel Talkies, Thoppumpadi, Kochi. 1/6 pic.twitter.com/mr599GJXEV

Ah, typo confusion..I was referring to Jana Gana Mana, Kaduva (the ones you mentioned) as massy and not comparable to the ones I mentioned (like Malayankunju) that have failed at the BO in Kerala. I want them to succeed and get space, just sad to see them tank in Kerala..
Replying to @epradeep98
But my 1st tweet to which you replied was on Malayankunju's all-India release, not a massy film, & the baseless assumption that middle-of-the road Mal cinema won't work in theatres all-India. Cross-purposes :) Anyway, fingers crossed for all language cinemas &an end to all bias🤞🏽

Was referring to Kerala market specifically. Movies like Malayankunju, Dear Friend, Mahaveeryar, Vaashi, Kuttavum Shikshayum, Pada have all bitten the dust. All the above movies have an element of mass (even an accomplished work like Bheeshma Parvam) unlike these.
Replying to @epradeep98
My tweet, as I wrote, was about the all-India release, so I can't see the connection. & Malayankunju is far from being massy by the standards of mass Hindi, Tamil, Telugu or even mass Malayalam films. But anyway, r u batting for Mal films to not get space in all-India theatres? 🤔

The comments by the Governor of Maharashtra are unfortunate, but not unexpected. The message he’s received from the ex Governor of W.Bengal’s candidature for VP is: controversy, foolish comments & operating like an extra constitutional authority, is behaviour that gets rewarded.

Isn't there an easy way to set defaults on all food apps to block out vegetarian items permanently? Have to keep remembering to click on the non-vegetarian-only filter each time else I keep seeing pics of paneer and gobhi and get queasy ahead of lunch pic.twitter.com/2Be9UfW4jt

In reply to @annavetticad
But isn't it a fact that despite all the good movies being dished out, none of the Malayalam movies have unfortunately managed to attract enough audience (atleast in Kerala)?
Replying to @epradeep98
Not true. Bheeshma Parvam, Jana Gana Mana, Kaduva, have done well here in Delhi, now Malayankunju. Several have not even got space in theatres here or been given 1 show at a bad timing etc, but the likes of Dhaakad are allowed to stay in theatres even after being declared flops.

Lovely to see #Malayankunju getting a 2nd week in halls across India. This puts to rest the pandemic-time assumption that middle-of-the-road Malayalam cinema will do well only on OTTs. Distributors, exhibitors, media: stop underestimating the public, examine your own biases.(1/2)

I took so much for granted before the pandemic. I don't know if I should be telling you this considering your feelings for chipkalis, but I have lately even begun to admire the strategies used to trap insects by the lizard couple outside my kitchen window 🙈
