If Amazon workers in Alabama 鈥 a strong anti-union state 鈥 vote to form a union, it will be a shot heard around the world. If they can negotiate higher wages and better working conditions in the South, it will benefit every worker in America. I strongly support their efforts.

Interesting! Honest question: if we are paying people to stay home from work (and paying them truly enough), can鈥檛 they avoid dangerous work if they don鈥檛 want to do it?
Replying to @nichcarlson
Some people have jobs where they can stay home if given pay. Restaurants, for ex - if we cover small biz expenses & paychecks, we can take care of small biz & people for a safe reopen. Essential workers who can鈥檛 stay home (warehouse wkrs, healthcare, etc) still need protections

If you want to know why COVID relief is tied up in Congress, one key reason is that Republicans are demanding legal immunity for corporations so they can expose their workers to COVID without repercussions.

Dems don鈥檛 want you to die for a check. That鈥檚 what we鈥檙e fighting over.

Pelosi compromised & accepted the $4 trillion leveraged Wall St bailout the GOP demanded as a condition for passing the 1st stimulus check in CARES. It was (& is) a horrible deal that will structurally slant our economy against small biz for a long time. But she did accept it

I don鈥檛 say this to point fingers, but if we only say 鈥渟hame on both鈥 & don鈥檛 actually drill down to see *what* is holding things up then it鈥檚 just performance Right now GOP is demanding a full liability waiver for corps so they can expose workers to COVID w/o repercussion

Obviously that is the case today. I didn't see you calling out Pelosi for not being willing to compromise, nor did I see any Senators doing the same to MCConnell. Until we break that power logjam we get the unproductive feast and famine, your-side, myside politics we face today.

When McConnell actually brings the Senate into session and passes a bill, then we can have a Senate version and a House version to reconcile and move forward. But they haven鈥檛 done that. House has passed two. Senate is sitting around. usatoday.com/story/news/pol鈥
Replying to @AOC @mcuban
The fact that the Senate鈥檚 not passing IS the problem. They need to pass a bill so there鈥檚 a marker to negotiate w/. Pelosi can pass 10 diff versions, it doesn鈥檛 matter if the Sen passes nothing. Thats why ppl don鈥檛 know what鈥檚 going on: Senate has 0. That鈥檚 on Senate leader.

It鈥檚 Tuesday before Thanksgiving so you should know that if the minimum wage had increased at the rate of productivity since 1960, it would be $22.50. Instead, it鈥檚 $7.25.

That's $15.25 per hour that's disappeared from the pockets of low income workers the past 60 years...

You know in the House, when we don鈥檛 have the votes to pass something, we work on the bill until we pick up the votes to pass it. That includes GOP votes - & yes, GOP have voted for my leg too.

The Senate should try it sometime! People are going hungry as you tweet from vacay.
.@AOC seems not to know there are Democrats in the Senate.

Or that Joe Biden (also a Dem) is publicly calling on Senate Dems to continue filibustering COVID relief because he thinks it will help them win Georgia.

Why is your party filibustering $500 billion in COVID relief?

And Joe Biden is cheering them on. Thinking that blocking relief somehow helps Dems win Georgia.

It is also a truly embarrassing indictment of what鈥檚 considered 鈥渃enter鈥 politics in the US that objecting to the appointment of an official who helped cover up the murder of a Black child is deemed the 鈥減rogressive, far left鈥 position.
