Ty for keeping us updated on Sanibel. Would love to see a pic of my house :)
Replying to @Pzinget
DM me your address - if I get back over there and I’m closeby I can check it out. When we get dropped off by boat we have to walk everywhere so it’s hard to get a lot of places.

It feels surreal walking through Sanibel. All you hear are helicopters and fire alarms in the distance.

So glad I stumbled across this video-I can see my dad in it! Thank you.

I don't understand why they didn't evacuate

It is hard for some people to leave their homes. No one ever thinks the big one is really going to hit. People have pets. People are old. Hotels were full. It can be a more complicated decision than it appears.

That is great Brian! What about the dog, cat and bunny? 💙💚❤

Some have been asking how Bob is doing — the boater I interviewed right before the storm hit. Went to check on him and he is OK. He got very lucky because almost all of the boats around him were destroyed or badly damaged.
"I'm not overly concerned with the storm surge. The boat floats."

As #HurricaneIan closes in on Florida's west coast, some will be riding out the storm. @BrianEntin spoke to Bob, who is choosing to wait out the storm on his boat.

Can you please clarify the status of the puppy? I doubt the puppy survived but, would like to know definitively… this is vital information and a lot of us want to know! Please follow up! Thank you.

I’ll be back in that area Monday and try to find Joey and ask him.

I heard so many harrowing stories from Sanibel residents as they were rescued today. Many thought they were going to die as the water crept up over their homes. They were grateful volunteers using their own boats saved them. pic.twitter.com/kXZPV4Tjpx

Wasn’t expecting this — a couple with 6 corgis rescued!

Just back from Sanibel Island -- incredibly sad. Also amazed by the work volunteers are doing rescuing people. Volunteers with boats from all over who are here saving lives. So many elderly survived the storm surge. Thanks to Jeff from Islamorada who took me out on his boat.

Joey Fernandez says he found one of his neighbors dead and holding onto his puppy after Hurricane Ian moved through San Carlos Island off the coast of Fort Myers.
Our full report:

As of 2pm— more than 500 people have been rescued in Charlotte & Lee Counties since operations began this morning, according to the Florida Division of Emergency Management.

The people on San Carlos Island tell me they need food, water, and ice. They are stuck there because roads are still flooded. We made it in just barely with our Tahoe. But there’s no way a lower car can get through the floods. And their cars all flooded during the storm.
Storm surge went into second floor houses on San Carlos Island. Just left there and interviewed the man who took this video. He punched out a wall to get out of his house — and then used a jet ski to check on neighbors. Several did not survive, he says. #HurricaneIan pic.twitter.com/ocj1HWQhkQ

Power out almost everywhere in Fort Myers from what I can tell. No water at hotel. Cell service spotty. Water has receded downtown. Lots of damage as I look around. Had to drive around several boats in the road. Live on @newsnation soon.

Wind is still whipping in Fort Myers — but the water appears to be slowly going down a bit downtown. Hoping that continues. #hurricaineIan

How long will you be in fort Myers’s? Curious what’s gonna happen there over the next two days. My boyfriends boat is there in a slip and we’re in Utah 😫

Just got to Fort Myers/Cape Coral area. Seeing very little in terms of boarded up businesses compared to when I was in Tampa. #HurricaneIan

Disney closed Wednesday and Thursday. #HurricanIan

Still plenty of sand at Ed Radice Sports Complex in Hillsborough County. It’s about a 2 hour wait to get in. #HurricaneIan

Latinos in Nevada switching from Democrat to Republican ahead of the midterms. Went to Las Vegas to find out why – and found many Latinos feel they have been taken for granted by Democrats.

yes -- I did that story too in Nevada. About to tweet it.

Some Republican women in Pennsylvania say they will vote for Democrats in the midterms for the first time ever because of the abortion issue.
