Don't look for the big, quick improvement.
Seek the small improvement one day at time.
That's the only way it happens-and when it happens, it lasts.

Can we apply these numbers to baseball or there a separate set of numbers that would apply to baseball as opposed to softball.

Great players want it more:

- Want to be coached
- Want to be challenged
- Want to be held accountable
- Want to hear truth
- Want to win 🏆

Just because you are on a team doesn't mean you are a team.

A real team connects, commits, competes & cares for each other! 🏆

Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what other think you are.

A coach will impact more young people in a year than the average person does in a lifetime. - Billy Graham

Coaches: That means you need to be transformational NOT transactional. You can have a positive or negative impact. Make this season about your positive impact.

Players on the bench have two choices: Sit and do nothing. Or stay mentally engaged. You may not be physically connected to the game, but you should always be emotionally connected to it.

Coaches: Want a secret to success? LOVE YOUR ATHLETES!! ❤️

Show them everyday - a smile, high 5 or a pat on the back is all it takes most days.

The MOST respected coaches don't try to get athletes to respect them - they create a that environment by showing respect & trust.🏆

When you're part of a team, you stand up for your teammates.
Your loyalty is to them.
You protect them through good and bad, because they'd do the same for you.

Coach Lisle, the Rangers opened theirs in 2019 in Surprise.

Can’t believe this took a team until 2021 but it’s a big step and hopefully everyone follows suit.

You won't be good enough to ever beat another team by yourself. But you can, by yourself, destroy your own team with a bad attitude.

George Bush throws what might be the most memorable first pitch in baseball history.

Wearing a bulletproof vest, President Bush throwing a strike from the top of the mound was exactly what the country needed that day.

Great thread. 👏
1/ Thread...A few thoughts on Player Development and what we have done at College of Central Florida. The term "Player Development" is sometimes taken for granted and just shrugged off as "coach speak" without the meaning of what exactly you are doing when it comes to PD...

My biggest mistake as a young coach?

Too much sarcasm and not enough empathy.

It took me a long time to learn that coaches who show empathy can inspire athletes to give more effort, increase their confidence, and deal with adversity better!
