Good to hear PM’s new enthusiasm for climate action. Since Govt failing its own climate targets, I look forward to imminent cancellation of Cumbrian coal mine, Cambo oil field, £27bn road building plan, reversal of aid cut, & a #GreenNewDeal #WalkYourTalk theguardian.com/world/2021/sep…

A fine victory for @LCFC at @MillwallFC. @prodnose, You’re not singing anymore, you’re not singing anymore.

Just wanted to say, I heard your interview. I am someone who followed you for your interests outside football so please continue to tweet about those

Rest assured, I will. Thank you.

In a moment on @BBCRadio4 - @GaryLineker on his career in the media - on the Media Show. I’m biased but it’s fascinating and fun. On in a sec. You can listen here. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/li…

Some good news:
BREAK: Xi Jinping says China will stop building coal plants overseas. This almost completely ends the international finance of coal in a single sentence.

The master.
For anyone who’s watched football on the BBC in the last 40 years, this is wonderful. @GaryLineker on what he learned from Des Lynam. You can hear the full 60-minute Media Show interview with Gary Lineker on @BBCRadio4 here: bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0… pic.twitter.com/KRr789dSEN

Question I've always wanted to ask Gary ....when you were playing and leaving the dressing room before a match, how much did you think about wanting to do well for yourself and how much wanting to do well for the fans/fan base? (I appreciate one links to the other)
Replying to @Jiminez_Dirk
It’s one and the same.

This is why @GaryLineker is such a good presenter, he learnt from others and does it to his best ability. Keep it up Gary.

All round great conversation between @GaryLineker and @BBCRosAtkins, but particularly loved this moment. The pure passion Gary has for the game is infectious. A top class presenter with a love for the game, one of the big reaons why #MOTD is so enjoyable.

In reply to @GaryLineker
Love this. Brilliantly explained. 👏

Good segment. Really well articulated.

Oh to be able to play again.
I loved this moment in Gary Lineker’s interview with me where he compares scoring the equaliser in a World Cup semi-final – and presenting. I mean I love presenting, but scoring the goal does sound better. Full 60min @BBCRadio4 Media Show interview here. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0… pic.twitter.com/uqoCdG4rDo

Thoroughly enjoyed our chat. 👍🏻
I feel like @GaryLineker has been an ever-present - first as a player when I was a fan as a boy - then as a presenter who's guided us through so many seasons. I loved sitting down for an hour to discuss his media career for the Media Show on @BBCRadio4. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

Well this is lovely. Thank you @krisvoakes
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏆 It's 27 years since @GaryLineker retired, and there's still nobody who has delivered at multiple World Cups for England like he did...

Stills can be misleading but not this one. It was an astonishing error from VAR.

Cheers @GuillemBalague 🤣🤣
"Well thanks very much for reminding me that I was part of a rubbish team, Guillem!" 😂

@GaryLineker knows a thing or two about being a top striker, and he has a very high opinion of Karim Benzema

🗣️ "He's exceptionally consistent...I think since Ronaldo's left, he's kind of taken the mantle, and he's become the team's superstar."

Fabulous.

With Barça taking on Granada tonight, I’m looking forward to being a part of Viva LaLiga later. On at 6pm UK-time on @LaLigaTV. 👍🏻

UK media who are running articles & new pieces on vaccine risks with the same experts: please please please ask international experts too who have treated kids with covid *and* the rare cases of heart inflammation and get their view. There are dozens in US & Canada & elsewhere

More information from a professor who probably knows more than some bloke on YouTube.
From coming week onward, all young people 12 years and older will be eligible to receive the covid vaccine in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 .

Because I received many questions from parents and press, I decided to share some of these Q&As in a 🧵

So here we go!

1/15

Should allay any concerns……again. 👇🏻
There's been lots of coverage of the risk of heart inflammation in teens after the vax.

Firstly, risk is tiny (~40 cases per million doses)
Secondly, it is almost always mild & resolves quickly
Thirdly, risk of heart inflammation from Covid is much much higher than from vax 1/2

To my followers from across the pond is it true that Americans don't know what pass the parcel is?

They do, but they keep it to themselves.

Goalless at halftime but watching Messi, Mbappe & Neymar link up has been joyous. Some sumptuous football. He’s getting closer.

Not sure we believe you, Gary. Photo says otherwise 😂

It’s not me with him, honest. 😳

I’d take off with my ears.

In reply to @GaryLineker
You're splitting hairs now, Gary. Semantics. Most of mine were taken in Wembley, which is what we called the unmarked pitch at the back of my school. We didn't even have a penalty spot - I probably took mine from 14 or 15 yards out.
Can’t imagine what the pressure must have been like. I surrender.

In reply to @GaryLineker
But have you seen him play culver house Gary, thought not

It's all relative. Am pretty sure Gary didn't get a wedgie or multiple nipple-cripples from teammates for missing his, but will happily stand corrected if wrong.
Replying to @bglendenning
Much worse from Gazza. I’ve just googled you and there’s no record of any goals on your Wikipedia page, let alone your penalty claims. Are you making things up, Barry?

In reply to @GaryLineker
I've missed two out of nine. I'll leave it up to somebody else to do the maths but I think I have the edge.
I’m 3 for 3 in World Cups if that counts for anything.

In reply to @KeithJRooney
Gary Lineker's penalty record is vastly inferior to Mark Noble's. I know who'd I'd be asking for advice if I had to score one to save a loved one's life.
Mildly superior to yours though, I imagine.

2 more goals from @ErlingHaaland. This young man’s numbers are utterly ridiculous.

Hes easily bossed around. 🥴
In reply to @GaryLineker
Well, you did make him dress up in a leprechaun suit.

He’s great, of course, and real box office, but I’ve not seen every pundit of every sport in the world, so I’ll have to take your word for it.
Keane’s the best pundit in the world, for any sport.

Is it me or does Roy Keane occasionally come over as being a bit grumpy?

In reply to @GaryLineker
Yes. And exactly 50% of those tennis players lose each match and all but one of those golfers get beaten in each tournament.

Chelsea are bloody good.

Of course not, they now keep everything to themselves, hoping no one will notice their errors.
Anyone out there got any idea how VAR is operated ? 🤷‍♂️

In reply to @GaryLineker
West Ham have missed so many. There was no one on the pitch I thought would score. I was thrilled to see Noble coming on. He is, on numbers, the best penalty taker in Europe’s big five leagues. But he hit the only bad one he’s ever hit. So it clearly doesn’t work does it.
Replying to @tompeck
I knew by the end of your tweet, that you’d agree with me. 🤣

Spurs trail with Silva lining things up for a Chelsea victory.

In reply to @GaryLineker
Enough space at West Ham for subs to warm-up with a ball.
Yes, I can just see a sub practicing penalties behind the goal. 🤣

Do all these kickers score? Mark Noble is 34, has taken 43 career penalties and scored 38. He probably knows what the ball feels like at this stage of his career.
Replying to @bglendenning
Every tennis player hits balls just before playing. Every golfer hits balls just before playing. Every footballer strikes footballs just before playing. A sub coming on 90+ minutes doesn’t have that luxury. The small margins make big differences.

Don’t disagree.
In reply to @GaryLineker
Leicester got screwed. I have no rooting interest whatsoever and I can tell you Leicester got screwed. VAR losing its mind in England again.

In reply to @GaryLineker
Gary didn't notice that it was on field linesman who flagged both goals offside before VAR intervened, then 🤨

Barnes offside twice did that. 2-1 Brighton beat Leicester
Replying to @LAcrimes
You don’t quite get it, do you?
