In the last few years, instead of asking backbenchers to vote down non-binding opposition motions, they privately like the government simply lets them pass uncontested.

That led to surreal scenes this lunchtime - as Rural Ind TDs protested the passage of their own motion…

So providing a van is a corporate donation. Providing people who go in the van to erect posters is a personal donation. This is angels dancing on a pin talk. Should be added to the long list of Irish Oscar nominations.
Replying to @EyeBlinks
It's a personal donation because all parties are insistent that the workers were paid out of Stone's pocket, and not the company payroll. If they were working on company time it would be a corporate donation, beyond the permissible limit

Donohoe visibly and audibly irritated by Peadar Toibin inferring a link between Stone's donations and winning State contracts. "I play no role in deciding who gets a contract in this State." Says the assertion to the contrary is damaging to politics

[There's a very subtle, and very important, distinction in this whole story - between the rules on electoral expenses, and the rules on political donations - and the line is being fudged a lot in this Dáil session]
Replying to @gavreilly
Paul Murphy points out that if Stone never donated to Fine Gael's local election campaign in 2019, it seems clear that he only donates when Donohoe stands to benefit - making it harder to argue that paying staff to hang Donohoe posters was not a personal donation to Donohoe
