Elliott's goal early in the second half was enough to give Salford the win in a smash and grab at Vale Park.

🚨 Senior Conservative backbencher tells me tonight they are confident of getting to 54 letters tomorrow to try and oust the PM.

“Up the revolution!” they tell me.

No 10 / whips subjecting them to “threats and blackmail” but has only angered MPs further, they say.

Embarrassing ! What is Australia doing 🤷🏻‍♂️
JUST IN 🚨 Police officers have crashed an Ashes afterparty with Australian cricketers Alex Carey, Nathan Lyon, Travis Head and English cricketers Joe Root and James Anderson asked to leave a venue
I’ve never been a fan of Raab, but just look and listen to him now . He’s like an assistant coach sat on the bench watching the manager in his last days. Like him or not he used to be a lot more sure and definite. He’s been drained of all his confidence 🤷🏻‍♂️
On #BBCBreakfast Justice Secretary Dominic Raab MP is asked if he believes a Minister should resign if they have lied to Parliament.

It follows claims by Dominic Cummings that Boris Johnson waived aside warnings of a planned drinks party at Downing St.

Laura Woods believes the Premier League have to rethink their approach to calling games off.
33 players and staff test positive for Covid out of 13,600 tests. We don’t know the exact breakdown between players and staff but it’s clear that now we must stop calling fixtures off. Jan 1st should have been the last date allowed for cancellations. Come on @premierleague @EFL

Former Spectator and Sunday Tel editor Dominic Lawson directly undermines Boris Johnson’s claim that he thought the May 20, 2020 party was a “work event”.

He claims that at least two people in No 10 told the PM it was a party and should be cancelled👇🏼…

The great Premier League postponement pandemic: suspicion and self-interest among the clubs as Arsenal become the latest to seize their opportunity…
Welcome to Premier League Postponement - the game of naked self-interest that every club wants to play
Game off. What started out as postponements due to a pandemic has now become about clubs not having their best team . The Premier League must stop this now , draw a line in the sand and say all games go ahead unless you have an exceptional amount of CV cases . It’s wrong 👍

….whilst many will say AFCON, suspensions etc shouldn’t count, PL have effectively set a precedent when they cancelled Leicester game citing AFCON It is bizarre though that club with apparently 1 Covid case, which loaned out 2 players this week, can have a game postponed

I repeat this is not about Arsenal but all teams should be made to play from now on in the PL and EFL. Also why has the decision been delayed until today when the request was last night at 6.30pm. Fans will be setting off from all over the place and will be in limbo!

Hours later, the Queen went to a socially-distanced funeral for Philip.…

Work event!
They weren’t scared in Lockdown No 1 without vaccines when we were all terrified. Yet they’ve emptied cities with work from home , ploughing us with injections and got masks on our children in schools 2 years later! Invest in the NHS , pay people properly and open up you frauds!
People still working from home and kids wearing masks and you lot weren’t scared in Lockdown 1, yet terrified us all . You’ve been taking the piss for 2 years.
I completely understand why people feel let down. The PM did the right thing by apologising. Now we need to let the investigation complete its work.

We have so much to get on with including rolling out boosters, testing and antivirals - so we can live with Covid.
Worth watching important apology from PM today.

Lets allow Sue Gray to do her job while we get on with ours - rolling out the vaccine, keeping the economy open and driving jobs recovery.
Replying to @OliverDowden
It really doesn’t work Oliver . It doesn’t . From loved ones dying alone , to students getting fined , to young people charged for watching football to the country suffering from mental health issues through not being able to mix. Stop it now . Just stop it. This was Lockdown 1!
📻📺Hearing that Grant Shapps told PM he would ONLY do morning broadcast round today if given more info about No 10 party.

Understand he thought it would be pointless otherwise. Cue empty chairs in TV & radio studios across the land.
It’s taken @RishiSunak 8 hours to work out how to word a tweet that would finish Johnson off but look like he was supporting him 😂
Rishi oh Rishi. You shouldn’t have done that 😂😂😂
I’ve been on a visit all day today continuing work on our #PlanForJobs as well as meeting MPs to discuss the energy situation.

The PM was right to apologise and I support his request for patience while Sue Gray carries out her enquiry.

We agree and understand that there have been rumours that we lost last night’s match.

We, of course, could’ve done things differently, but would advise people to await the outcome of Sue Gray’s inquiry before jumping to any conclusions…
