Despite some tough talk, P&O have faced no consequences for their dreadful actions a year ago & the CEO remains in position.

P&O said loud & proud that they would do it again. This is nothing short of class war & the government have picked their side.

@RMTunion
@nautilusint

Tomorrow I have a Westminster Hall debate on the lessons learned from the redundancies at P&O Ferries a year ago.

Rather than ensure this can never happen again, the government have doubled down on their attacks on workers' rights. Things must change.

Labour Party democracy is built upon the right of local members, trade unions, and affiliates to choose their own candidate to represent them and their views.

I strongly urge the NEC to defend this right for the members of Islington North CLP at tomorrow’s meeting.

Solidarity with @GMB_union members at Pilgrim Foods fighting cowardly threats of fire and rehire ✊

A government interested in protecting hard working people would have banished this practise a long time ago.

The PM is either mistaken or disingenuous when he says that 2 million fewer people are in poverty today than in 2010.

Child poverty in the North East has risen at truly shocking levels in recent years. If the government thinks this is progress then we are in deep, deep trouble.

Martin Forde's heard almost nothing from the Labour Party leadership about his thorough, detailed and comprehensive report.

He made:
165 recommendations
Found a hierarchy of racism
Took issue with Panorama

His report deserves a full response.
The BBC has questions to answer

Ian Lavery MP Retweeted ·
Party spokespeople consistently state the culture of factionalism identified by Forde has been overcome & yet when a young, black woman MP raises a legitimate concern based upon Forde’s comments she is pounced upon by an NEC member associated with a particular faction. Staggering

We've got profits soaring at the top while ordinary people are struggling to make ends meet.

Yet in the Budget, the Tories handed billions more to the richest 1% and to the biggest corporations.

There is an alternative: tax wealth - give workers a proper pay rise.

Education is in crisis.

Vote Daniel Kebede [1] for NEU General Secretary.

We need a STRONG and UNITED union that fights and wins on the issues that matter to our members and children.

Voting opens 6th February!

While over 500,000 workers walk out on strike we hear not a peep from the Chancellor on tackling our chronically falling wages.

But don’t worry, he found almost £20 billion in tax cuts for corporations, pensions for highest earners, and cuts to fuel duty.

Desperate times.

On the picket line bright and early supporting @pcs_union workers taking industrial action.

40,000 civil servants are forced to use foodbanks due to low pay which continues to fall in real terms. They should not and will not stand by and accept this.

A massive message of solidarity to all workers taking strike action today.

This is not just a fight for jobs today, but for the future of our vital institutions and workers rights in the 21st century. 👊🏼✊🏼

Don't let them pin their failure on the worlds most vulnerable.

I stand firm shoulder to shoulder with some of the most desperate and deprived people in the world and I’m proud to do so.

Listening to ⁦@IanLaveryMP⁩ at the “No more P & Os” rally outside Parliament today- a year on since the disgraceful sacking of 800 seafarers the Government have done nothing to ensure such an outrage won’t happen again

With funds being siphoned into Tory seats and not areas that need it most, the Tories "levelling up" plans are nothing short of sham.

@IanLaveryMP shows that we need a devolution deal with proper funding and power for the North East.

At next week's Budget, let's send the Tories a clear message: tax wealth - give workers a pay rise!

Ahead of the Budget, I'm presenting this petition in Parliament calling for this.

Over 30,000 have already backed it. Sign it 👇 change.org/p/tax-wealth-p…

Very sad to hear of the passing of the legendary local photographer Mik Critchlow.

I was also asked about the selection process in Ilford South. I’m formally challenging the integrity of the result and asking that the result in Ilford be set aside. I fully intend to stand as a Labour candidate in the next election.

This is the REAL Tory Party - and they despise you.

Thank you to all teachers for your fantastic efforts throughout the pandemic. You certainly did a better job than either Hancock or Williamson did over that period - although that isn’t really saying much.

Greg is a very well experienced respected Labour representative in Broxstowe. Someone with a local track record. One of the best. The decision to block him from standing should be of immense concern. Solidarity Greg.
