Spot on. You have to almost take your hat off to the gall and brazenness of Brooks. Denying someone who probably does need the money the chance to earn it.
It's *extra* cool of the guys who are bailing on the @pgatour to stay in the field this week and take spots from guys who are committed (and who could use both the check and the points)

I’ve just seen your pinned tweet and suddenly your gullibility all makes sense

Essential bedtime reading @iaincartergolf!! (Bought from @ToppingsStAs yesterday on your recommendation 😉)

Announcing the newest member of the Liv Tour…
Brooks Koepka! 🏌️‍♂️ pic.twitter.com/lAQCCPjKjy

Wonderful photograph of 22 Open champions in the foyer of Prestwick GC. Particular highlights: Greg looking miserable (and about 70 years old) and Sir Nick with frosted tips

That’s great news. I did say it was scarcely believable

In reply to @jamiecweir
They are competing for (very large) prizes, not just receiving appearance fees or raising money for charity as in a true "exhibition." "Exhibition" was poll-tested by the PGA's PR crisis management firm. By using that term to describe LIV, you're just carrying water for the PGA.
Replying to @ur1TruthDetect
If you think it’s genuinely competitive you’re carrying water for the Saudis, Truth Detector. Andy Ogletree scooped $120,000 for going round in +20 and finishing dead last.

In reply to @Chicagosports09
No one will turn on the tv for them. LIV can never create the atmosphere they had at The Country Club this past weekend. It’s like watching Tom Brady vs Aaron Rodgers EVERY week. Fun once. Every week through. No chance. Plus no morals if you take the Saudis money.
Replying to @MattyInBoston19 @Chicagosports09 and 1 otherfalse
It’s not even like watching Brady v Rodgers. It’s like watching Jimmy G v Baker Mayfield

In reply to @jamiecweir
Right. $20 million in individual prize money based on traditional stroke play & a total purse of $25M including team prizes. Plus special payouts of $30M and $50M for the LIV end-of-season championships. That's not "exhibition." "Exhibition" is just a weak PGA talking point.
Replying to @ur1TruthDetect
It’s an exhibition. For which they’re very well rewarded financially.

In reply to @jamiecweir
Exhibition golf doesn't have $20 per event purses and pay $4 million to the winner of every event.
Replying to @ur1TruthDetect
True. They have $25 million purses

year and to a degree divisive. By contrast Morikawa is hugely popular, world no. 4, the reigning Champion Golfer and a potentially generational talent with the world at his feet. It’s scarcely believable a competitor of that ilk is willing it all up for 54-hole exhibition golf
Replying to @jamiecweir
Have to stress this is all just based on rumour. I’d be hugely shocked if he did join LIV, but then again fewer and fewer things are shocking me with this whole saga

In reply to @jamiecweir
If Koepka goes, it’s proving to be an interesting social experiment. Look at calibre of players staying v going to LIV. Highlights the type of character who will do anything for money. What happens to the wood ducks who took initial cash who now get bumped for Koepka etc?
Replying to @McCarthyDamian
Koepka has gone, just not confirmed yet. He’s actually the perfect fit as he’s never been particularly motivated by regular Tour events anyway. He hasn’t played one since March!

If Collin Morikawa defects it would be an incredible coup for Norman and the first real gamechanger. Until now it’s been players towards the end of their careers or even - with the likes of Johnson, DeChambeau, Koepka, Reed - players struggling for form, winless in well over a

Did he convince you over Richarlison too!
I don’t need convincing. I’m sold on Richarlison. However YOU need to pull your finger out and get Sean a couple of tickets for the opening day of the season v Chelsea at Goodison

Please no.

He’d be brilliant for Palace

The people you bump into in St Andrews! A lot of fun to share several pints of the black stuff with @Sean_Zak in the greatest town in the world

Just about to tuck into a curry at Jahangir in St Andrews @HunterMahan. Any recommendations?

The answer to the all-important question… 🏆🍻❓

About Fitz. A victory for one of golf’s good guys

skysports.com/golf/us-open/n…

I'm too modest to call this the greatest tipping feat of all time (😜), but let's take a final look at where the 5 players from my "contenders" piece finished @usopengolf shall we?
Fitzpatrick 1st
Zalatoris T2nd
Scheffler T2nd
McIlroy T5th
Rahm T12th (I'll be having a word)
So many words written in the last 12 hours praising Fitzpatrick and Foster and everyone’s forgetting the real hero in all of this - Casey

In reply to @jamiecweir
Not trying to be critical but is chipping not a weakness? Surely cack handed shows a small weakness when he plays bunkers the right way
Replying to @roverjoyce
He led in strokes gained around the greens this week!! If a player putts with an unconventional grip - left hand low, or claw grip or whatever - and drains everything… is it a weakness?

I said this 16 months ago. He’s since taken his game to an entirely new level and is now in the world’s top 10 and a major champion. Not one weakness in his game.
Easily the most under-appreciated golfer in the world. Entering the Top 50 at the age of 21 and 6 months and staying there, while playing on both tours, is INSANE.

Imagine seeing this… and thinking this. This silly app, honestly.

Nice thread from Dan and absolutely spot on. You will not meet a nicer, more down-to-earth or inherently decent person than Fitz. Last night was just reward for his hard work and dedication, but it also won’t change him one bit.
Mr @MattFitz94 is obviously a wonderful golfer and now a major winner after his success at the #USOpen

A lot has been said about his hard work, dedication and attention to detail but he is also a top bloke.

I have a little story from 2017 which demonstrates that perfectly. pic.twitter.com/2sBnGzw0Ta

Bet Russell Fitzpatrick will remember his too

In reply to @JustinRayGolf
So he did. What about the 17 greens angle?
What was Francesco at Carnoustie?

Matt Fitzpatrick: elite driver
Rory McIlroy: elite putter
What a sport
Matt Fitzpatrick this week:

Driving distance: 16th
Driving accuracy: 5th
Greens hit: 1st

“Matt Fitzpatrick came back to the place where it all began and told us a story that money can’t buy”
Perfect way to sign off from @NickDougherty5
The unbridled joy on the faces of the Fitzpatrick family as years of sacrifice and dedication finally pay off
THAT’S what it’s about

Hell yeah. The coolest.

Excuse the hyperbole, but this should genuinely go down as one of the greatest shots of all time
How do you define clutch?

@MattFitz94 hit this shot on 18 to help secure the #USOpen title. pic.twitter.com/iQcOGxph0Z

Will Zalatoris three quarters of the way towards the Louis Slam already

Oh my word. I’m crying my eyes out here. This is so wonderful. Could not happen to a nicer lad. So so happy for Fitz. History repeats itself at Brookline!

Oh my God Fitz, that is an insanely good shot

Will never understand those who derive so much pleasure from sneering at world class sportspeople when they trip up. Such odd behaviour

Come on Fitz. Please get this over the line.

Jamie Weir Retweeted ·
Caddying for 35 years and Billy Foster hasn't been on the bag of a player winning a major championship. Has given so much to the game. Could be a little bit emotional if Fitzy wins this.

Even with a win today, not winning on the PGA Tour in your first 80+ starts doesn’t scream “alpha”.
Replying to @Lane_Schartz @TronCarterNLU and 1 otherfalse
Weird. It’s almost as if players can’t dramatically improve as they develop their game and gain experience

In reply to @jamiecweir
He's winning the Open.
Replying to @ronlee1975
The only question is by how many

Rory will come up a couple of shots shy. Given how mentally draining last week - both the win and being the voice/the ‘saviour of the Tour’ - must have been, and how much he had to battle when his game wasn’t there this week, that’s still pretty impressive. Roll on St Andrews

Is this type of fawning over Rory a general @SkySportsGolf policy or is it a personal choice?

🤔
