Why isn't Ivanishvili on the sanctions list? On his direction, Georgia is siding with Putin, helping Russia evade sanctions, and torturing to death Saakashvili, who was staunchly anti-Kremlin.
Replying to @Kasparov63
It's another example of how the free world refuses to fight to win, or even admit it's in a war. All these loopholes and exceptions for aggressors, their partners and enablers within and without. Indecision and inaction kill.

The #Ukrainian Foreign Ministry compared the abuse of Mikheil #Saakashvili abuse to the torture perpetrated by the NKVD.

Elections loom over Ukraine's battlefields.

“The absence of a victory will call into question the legitimacy of Russia’s 2024 elections,” Andrei Fedorov, former deputy foreign minister of Russia, told NBC News.

Are you joking? Russia hasn't had a legitimate election in two decades. That 2024 will be even more of a dictator's charade doesn't change that.

🙏Never time for everything, but a summary. 1) Listen to Ukrainians and people who were right, not those keep being wrong. 2) Ukraine must win, and there is great cost and no benefit in delaying victory by limiting the type of weapons or speed of delivery.

3) The West has consistently made the mistake of reacting to Putin's aggression instead of acting to deter him and defeat him. These obsolete Cold War "proportionate" responses encourage & prolong conflict and let him set the agenda.

“But you’re risking WW3!”

The entire Cold War was an exercise in being willing to risk WW3, in a calculated way. It’s called brinksmanship, and it’s an essential part of statecraft.

Keep asking. Why? Who is this trickle of weapons supposed to mollify? What is the possible strategic goal of moving so slowly to do what everyone knows must be done? Innocent people are dying.
Finally...but delivery schedule is too slow. Incremental aid prolongs the conflict. Why are we afraid of Ukraine winning?

The next batch of U.S. military aid for Ukraine is expected to include longer-range smart bombs for the first time wsj.com/articles/u-s-e… via @WSJ

My bill to memorialize Tom Paine—founding American patriot and democratic visionary—has won unanimous support from the Nat’l Capital Memorial Advisory Commission! This common-sense D.C. monument will place democracy and freedom at the center of our national life forever.

🤷‍♂️ Being wrong—loudly, radically—has evolutionary benefits in the modern and social media realms. It gets attention to go against the facts, to claim special knowledge. But experts and commanders whose errors cost lives need higher standards.

Ah, that's an eternal question for so much of what we are forced to read, watch & listen to. Why not replace them with people who are right?

Some enemies are worth having! The difference today is that Russia's tantrums are seen for the pathetic propaganda they are, and the West is standing up to the bully and the blackmail. The tide has turned. Putin's regime must be isolated, not engaged, until it falls.
⚡️The Munich Security Forum did NOT invite Russian officials 🇷🇺 to attend, but rather Garry Kasparov (@Kasparov63) & Mikhail Khodorkovsky (@mbk_center) instead.

Result? Russian authorities panicked & have begun attacking them.

This seems to be so, but as I said, the question is why he's still in his post if he disagrees with Biden's goals and mission in Ukraine--if that is indeed the case? Milley is no Grant, but Biden is no Lincoln. It's a war, not a war game.
In reply to @Kasparov63
Unfortunately, I don't think Milley is a Grant. More like a McClellan.

General Ulysses "Unconditional Surrender" Grant was decisive and knew what victory required. But he also had Lincoln's full backing. If politicians say they support Ukraine and want to end the war, they must listen to their generals, who are clear on how to do it.
Replying to @Kasparov63
Giving Ukraine all the weapons it needs asap is the only route to ending this war. The price in Ukrainian blood is higher with every delay. Telling Ukraine they cannot use in self defense the same weapons Russia uses against civilians is absurd and immoral.

EU leaders are still talking to Putin, talking about Russia "returning to the fold of nations". This requires clarification. A free and accountable Russia may return some day, but Putin cannot. Stop throwing lifelines to a war criminal and a terrorist regime.

The US admin still refuses to state that its end goal is complete Ukrainian victory. Austin's stance is impeccable, but he's not in charge. You can't have a strategy without clear objectives. You cannot have a roadmap if you don't know where you're going.

From RAND authors to the Pentagon, people who said Russia was too strong, Ukraine too weak, weapon aid would be a waste, etc., are still promoting a mantra of self-deterrence when it's clear Putin will not stop until he's stopped.

After a year of Russia's total war on Ukraine, we still see articles and statements from western analysts & officials who were wrong about everything. Why are they still being published, or in decision-making positions? Why not replace them with people who were right?

Surrender is “easy”, yes. Trump is correct in that there will be no more war if there is no more Ukraine, as he’d like. That is the peace of the gulag and the grave. I prefer the war to end when there is a free and whole Ukraine and Russia is defeated.
“We must end this ridiculous war and demand peace in Ukraine now before it gets worse. And believe it or not, it would be easy to do. It would be very easy to do.”

As explained by Umbero Eco, how easy it is to make anyone responsible for a crime except for the person who actually committed it. Those who tempted, or excused, or who stood by. Not blameless, perhaps, but the murderer is responsible.
The madness of Farage: he needs a history lesson from @Kasparov63 - the persistent appeasement of Putin and his mafia state, coupled with the hollowing out of European defence that emboldened him, is what led to this war.
