However, its region, the North County, has one of the lowest rates at 55%.

This @mollyesque portrait of the meltdown of a single well-regarded school is very good at blending specific details with broad national trends.

If you’re not a public school parent and are a little flummoxed by the debate, I highly recommend it.

The delta variant was essentially unknown in the U.S. a year ago, so difficult to know what conclusions can be drawn from the comparison. We are essentially in a new pandemic. The vax is less effective in preventing delta transmission, but it's very effective in preventing death.

Tho, by this point, last fall, hospitalizations in NYC were basically double where they are now and jumping by 50-60 a day and the growth rate was rising. Thankfully that isn't happening again (yet). 746 on 11/18/2020 790 on 11/20/2020 869 by 11/22/2020 1006 by 11/26

That was a statewide curve. Some regions, including NYC, are doing considerably better than last year.

Although 90% of NYS adults have received at least one shot, the state's COVID hospitalization level is at pretty much the same place as it was a year ago.

11/20/20: 2,443 hospitalized, 467 in ICU
11/20/21: 2,292 hospitalized, 453 in ICU

Notably, @TishJames doesn’t take a position in this statement on masking or vaccine mandates. She says the state has been “making the same mistakes over and over again,” but doesn’t say what those mistakes are.

It’ll be interesting to see if the report gives further evidence to support this dot-connecting between the nursing home coverup and the book.
An investigation by the New York State Assembly Judiciary Committee found that former Gov. Andrew Cuomo's administration "materially misrepresented" the extent of deaths that occurred in nursing homes in the early months of the pandemic.
