Felt good about this one.

Notable.
Ohio State is promoting RB coach Tony Alford to run game coordinator. He has coached, recruited and developed six 1,000-yard running backs in his seven-year tenure at Ohio State.

We made some charts breaking down the defensive performances of all of the candidates Pete listed in this article (we excluded Al Golden since we don't have any recent college data for him)

First up, Doug Belk

Only one year of experience but what a year it was

Wins = good hire. Losses = bad hire. That’s all we need to measure everything by.

Which offensive line coach had a better record at Notre Dame: Harry Hiestand or Jeff Quinn?

He graduated from Notre Dame and was a three-year starter. Maybe just say “thanks” and leave it at that.

My understanding is he's from Alabama and told the team midway through the yr he needed to get closer to home so his dad could watch his games.... I could have that completely wrong just what I've read
Just wanted to be closer to come and compete in the SEC.

Sometimes coaching searches can appear chaotic on the outside as they’re happening. But a look under the hood of Marcus Freeman’s hunt for his next defensive coordinator reveals order.

I agree he's been good but when will we ever get a dominant interior D lineman like Jordan Davis/Christian Wilkins/Dexter Lawrence, etc.? Foskey great but took 12 to develop a dominant end. Oline outpaced the DLine with 1st round talent over the years and it wasn't even close
Notre Dame having an elite offensive line doesn’t need to be a problem for the defensive line, which has been quite good the past four years.

In reply to @reggiotano
Touché. Elston seemed like a great guy. Loyal man. Players loved him.recruiter well. I don’t blame him the returning to his alma mater. But @NDFootball will b just fine.
He is a very good defensive line coach and recruiter. Twelve years in one spot in a long time. A new start with upward mobility was the move.

I think the #NotreDame beat needs to get together for a kegger after this coaching carousel ends.

mostly not coaching DL tho right?
Replying to @nelsonja
Correct. But Notre Dame needs to hire that position as well. Wonder if there’s a co-DC opportunity kind of thing out there for him.

Notre Dame needs a new defensive line coach. I’ll be fascinated to see if former Irish defensive tackle Tyler Stockton gets a look. Dynamic personality, great teacher, has done quality work at Ball State.

Talked to the family of one of Notre Dame’s defensive line commitments. The Elston departure is a shock and Elston has already called to tell the family that he’s headed to Michigan.

Goes without saying this is a bit of a shocker based on Elston’s comments on signing day about wanting to stay at Notre Dame for reasons beyond football.

Where does 74% fall in the national average?
Replying to @needaturnover
He was 20-25 last season. That’s 80 percent and it ranked 41st nationally. Doerer was 16-21, which was 76.2 percent.

In reply to @PeteSampson_
Why did Doerer transfer?
Replying to @_BD4_
He didn’t. He graduated and played five years at Notre Dame.

Notre Dame lands graduate transfer kicker Blake Grupe from Arkansas State. Grupe went 64-of-86 on field goals the past four seasons (74.4%).

Irish lost Jonathan Doerer after last season and have an opening at kicker.

Notre Dame hoops blows Clemson out of the building, 72-56. Dane Goodwin with 21 points, Blake Wesley pours in 20. Irish win their sixth straight and fourth straight in the ACC.

Notre Dame has back-to-back-to-back road games coming at Va Tech, Howard and Louisville.

What the hell got into the Notre Dame basketball team?

Irish up 64-41 on Clemson on Wednesday night, cruising toward a sixth straight win and moving toward 10-5 overall and 4-1 in the ACC.

Lol imagine thinking that NFL experience was important to being a college coach. 😂😂😂
It helps if you’re trying to recruit receivers who want to play in the NFL.

In reply to @PeteSampson_
Are you telling me NFL experience > DePauw experience? Sad.
Replying to @indycarczar
As much as I hate to admit it, I can’t argue with that point.

He literally took the Baylor job last January. That was short lived. Hopefully he stays at ND. Hope he can recruit
Replying to @freshfriar77
It’s Notre Dame over Baylor. Checked with a contact around Baylor and they really liked him, yet thought he’d be an even better fit at Notre Dame.

The Irish also interviewed JaMarcus Shepard from Purdue, but went with the former Clemson receiver with NFL experience. Stuckey impressed the Irish staff in his interview Wednesday.

The last thing ND needs is this added to the narrative: "they only won because it was snowing."
It’s called home field advantage for a reason! Lean into it!

In reply to @PeteSampson_
Notre Dame doesn't need a weather advantage to beat Clemson next year.
But it would welcome that weather advantage. Why wouldn’t you? Pretty basic stuff.

In reply to @PeteSampson_
Yeah, because Clemson is so much better, right Pete?
Because they’re from South Carolina, not South Bend. These games against Clemson and Florida State aren’t scheduled in November by coincidence.

LaFleur left ND in 2014/2015, when Johnson would've been a sophomore in high school, right? Did they stop recruiting him after that?
Replying to @ActOfDog2
No, they kept recruiting him. But when he camped at Notre Dame LaFleur was watching him. That would have been summer of ’14 when Johnson was about to be a sophomore in high school.
