The definitive Pete Carril tribute from the peeress Alex Wolff.
One game--a game at ranked Virginia in 1975 that he got tossed from--says all we need to know about Pete Carril and his Hall of Fame career: At his best, the Princeton coach engineered his own expendability. My bit for @SInow on this sad day bit.ly/3pozsux

One of the best stories in college football this year. Long road back from opening weekend last year. One of the most productive and talented backs in the country.
Loved seeing Mo Ibrahim back today after season-ending injury in last year’s opener. Enters the season on a school record streak of 9 straight 100 yard rush gms. Gophers had 5 diff players rush for 100 yards in a game last year - just the second B1G team to do that this century pic.twitter.com/N6EctpQA7y

Stewart spent 16 years at the Big 12 and served as the league’s lead football administrator. He’s a former football captain at Nebraska on the 1994 national title team and served as Missouri football’s administrative liaison before coming to the Big 12.
Replying to @PeteThamel

Great insight on the recruiting space here from @SWiltfong247, as recruiting staffers gave a state of the union. This stood out most:

"What is your comfort level with the alleged cheating going on in college football recruiting currently?"

"92 % said it is the Wild Wild West."
At this week's @FBRecSymposium, college football personnel staffers voted on several topics regarding the recruiting/portal landscape. Returns were interesting including 25 percent saying get rid of Signing Days and let a senior sign whenever. More here: 247sports.com/Article/Colleg…

Impressive to see the recruiting run that UAB is on w/interim Bryant Vincent. Five commits since Friday, including a four-star DL who de-committed from BYU. The roots of a strong class are in place.
Along with a trio of Alabama coastal players and a California QB, @UAB_FB's Bryant Vincent pulled in a commitment from Oak Mountain DL @laylowwaller on Monday.

What’s next for the Pac-12? Waiting on the Big Ten, figuring my out a grant of rights situation and likely a shorter TV contract — think 5 to 7 years — after this one expires. From Media Days.

What to expect from USC this season? A stellar QB and WR to go along with a lot of other new faces. From Pac-12 media days today.

News from LA: Pac-12’s Kliavkoff suggests Playoff could expand before end of current contract. “It actually wouldn’t surprise me once we agree on the format, if it happens before the end of the current term,” he tells @espn. Story w/⁦@CFBHeather⁩. espn.com/college-footba…

George Kliavkoff threw a few verbal brushbacks at Pac-12 Media Day. Here’s what’s next for the league from @sportscenter.

Kliavkoff says there's a "a lot of constituents that are very very unhappy" with UCLA's decision to go to the Big Ten. He adds that it's unlikely that they come back. But they'd be welcome to.

Stanford AD Bernard Muir: "We have not had any formal overture from another conference." It's widely expected that Stanford would go with Notre Dame if the Irish ever ended up joining the Big Ten.

Kliavkoff takes a direct shot at the Big 12 and Brett Yorkmark's "open for business" comment. Kliavkoff says of the Big 12: "We haven’t decided if we’re going shopping there yet or not."

Kliavkoff said he's spent four weeks trying to defend the Pac-12 from "grenades lobbed in from every corner of the Big 12 trying destabilize our conference." He adds: "I get it. I get why they are scared. I get why they are trying to destabilize us." Things getting spicy here.

Kliavkoff takes a direct shot at the Big 12 and Brett Yorkmark's "open for business" comment. Kliavkoff says of the Big 12: "We haven’t decided if we’re going shopping there yet or not."

Kliavkoff on the future of the Pac-12 in the CFP: "No one has ever argued that the remaining 10 members of the Pac-12 don’t deserve to be in the CFP."

Interesting. Kliavkoff says that the PAC-12 is “actively exploring expansion opportunities.” Rare that a commissioner openly acknowledges potential expansion.

George Kliavkoff says the Pac-12 is “very disappointed” in USC and UCLA’s decision. Their departure gets a quick mention nine minutes into his speech at Media Day. Also added that college sports has “collectively lost sight of student athlete.”
