The Senate did their work, now it’s time for the House to do theirs.

So, the President can sign this bold action to bring down kitchen table costs, while closing tax loopholes and paying down our deficit.

Thank you to the wonderful interns we had this summer: 3 constituents whose creativity, hard work, and dedication to the job did not go unnoticed.

We have no doubt your futures will be bright and full of success! Stay in touch — and know that you are always a part of the team ❤️

Absolutely wrong.

Brittney, her family, and friends have been through so much during this ordeal — we must end this.

We must do everything in our power to end this injustice — and force Putin and Russia to release her immediately.

What are we doing about inflation? We’re going to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which the @USCBO estimates will reduce the deficit by over $300 BILLION. (Not to mention, lower drug prices, reduce carbon emissions, and ensure corporations pay their fair share in taxes.)

I am so sad at the loss of my colleague and her colleagues in a horrific crash.

My prayers are for Congresswoman Walorski and her family, friends — and committed coworkers and staff.

I knew and admired her kindness to her staff and passion to serve others.

God bless them all.
Indiana GOP Rep. Jackie Walorski has died in a car accident that also killed two of Walorski's staffers, House Republican leaders announced cnn.it/3bwys4b

Getting in the car to head back to the district.

Wishing everyone a *sweet* weekend — hopes it’s as much fun as my grandson is having here…

If you can’t tell — chocolate is his passion. ❣️

I could not be more proud of this body for passing the Assault Weapons Ban

Yes, I know, it will fail in the Senate because of the filibuster, but we can’t let it stop us from doing our work.

And we must be clear where we stand during this gun crisis!

#BanAssaultWeaponsNow
The House of Representatives has voted to ban assault-style weapons, sending the bill to the Senate where it's not expected to advance cnn.it/3zg0SHC

My youngest grandchild, Scottie, was born in 2021.

In her world, guns kill more kids than cars do.

Scottie will learn active shooter drills when she learns how to tie her shoes.

We don’t have to live like this.

We must have the courage to #BanAssaultWeapons.

Happy Birthday to my son, @HarryCunnane❤️

I’m so proud of the man you’ve become and the work you do every day to bring hope to people in recovery.

Figured this was a good photo to use since my beautiful granddaughter Scottie reminds me a lot of you at that age!

Democrats are the party of action.

Democrats are putting people over politics.
Democrats have a proven track record of putting #PeopleOverPolitics, but we’re not done fighting For The People to lower costs, create better paying jobs, and build safer communities.

Cars, phones, microwaves, and TVs need semiconductors to function — we must make more of them here at home.

I voted to pass the #CHIPSandScience Act to:
👷 Create 100,000 new good-paying jobs
👨‍👧‍👦Lower prices for American families
🏭 Make more goods in America

Next stop, @POTUS

The CHIPS and Science Act bolsters domestic manufacturing, creates good-paying jobs, and fights inflation, advancing the #MakeItInAmerica agenda: education, entrepreneurship, infrastructure, and supply chain resilience.

And with a vote of 336-90 we have passed both bills!

I look forward to @POTUS signing both pieces of legislation.
Excited to have two of my bills on the floor today:

✅ Public and Federally Assisted Housing Fire Safety Act requires hardwired or tamper-resistant battery smoke alarms in public housing

✅ SECURE Notarization Act, with @RepArmstrongND, allows online notarization nationwide

While @HouseGOP look to shame, punish, and control women — @HouseDemocrats are focused on defending women's right to reproductive freedom, by passing:

✅ The Women’s Health Protection Act
✅ The Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act
✅ The Right to Contraception Act

Democrats are putting #PeopleOverPolitics to lower costs for families.

Meanwhile, MAGA Republicans are voting against bills to lower food and gas prices, cut insulin prices, and help American families.

Ignore their words — watch their action and votes.

Healthcare is deeply personal — and should be private.

It's a damn shame that so many women have to face this indecency and ignorance when trying to take care of themselves.

Women need privacy and dignity in their healthcare decisions — not control from zealots.
“You don’t have to go in!” “No one can force you to do this!”

Anti-abortion protesters outside of Philly-area Planned Parenthood clinics shout as patients enter the facilities, but 80% of them are going in for something other than an abortion. trib.al/hfaRMCB

Happy Saturday ☀️

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend with love and a little bit of sunshine.

Stay cool in this heatwave 😎

The past week:
- 209 House Republicans vote against abortion rights
- 205 House Republicans vote against protecting interstate travel for reproductive care
- 195 House Republicans vote against protecting contraception access
- 157 House Republicans vote against marriage equality

Thankful @RepLeeZeldin is safe following this attack.

Political violence of any kind is a stain on our society — and these incidents are far too frequent these days.

We must find peaceful ways to practice discourse.

.@RepDean: "Could you imagine if there was an attack on Joe Biden, the vice president of the United States during the Obama administration, and President Obama sat in a dining room for three hours and said, 'Maybe he deserves it'?" #TheReidOut

All privacy rights are at risk.

Today @HouseDemocrats — and only 8 Republicans —passed the #RightToContraception Act to guarantee a woman's right to birth control.

It’s maddening that we must take this action, but in this brave new world, all rights are at risk.

Thank you @RepDean for sharing your insights into what Congress is doing to support women-owned small businesses during yesterday’s briefing. We appreciate your commitment to bipartisanship and women’s issues. #WCPIEconSeries

Dozens of Congressmembers were trapped in the House Gallery during the insurrection. Now known as the Gallery Group, we’re committed to joining every @January6thCmte hearing we can.

Proud to sit down with @AliVitali to talk justice, truth, and healing.

Watch👇🏽

The year is 2022 - not 1922.

The choice to use birth control should be yours and yours alone to make — today, @HouseDemocrats stand up to the extremist #GOP agenda. #RightToContraception

As we prepare for the final 1/6 hearing, I’m reminded how fortunate I am to share this experience and grief with my friends and colleagues, @RepEscobar and @RepAnnieKuster.

Their support has been vital in managing the trauma.

Great reporting by @alivitali and @haleytalbotnbc.

Wishing @POTUS a full and speedy recovery!

This is one of many reminders that we need to remain vigilant as this new variant spreads around the country.

We spent much of this day debating the Assault Weapons Ban in the @HouseJudiciary.

Here are a few mass shootings the ban could’ve helped prevent:

Las Vegas
Pulse Night Club
El Paso
Buffalo
Uvalde
Aurora

We cannot wait on another mass shooting.

People want action, less talk.

Hi the Philadelphia public schools are in shambles and the cops in the city are literally just pretending to work bc they have been on a low key strike for over a year now. Giving them more money isn’t anything to brag about.
It’s not a brag, it’s a correction and clarification. We must call out lies. Enough.

Did I hear @Jim_Jordan say Philadelphia decreased their police budget?

Doesn’t matter how many times you say it, Mr. Jordan — it’s a lie.

You don’t know anything about Philadelphia, so here’s the truth👇 pic.twitter.com/4iTLJY5FgA
Replying to @RepDean
Philadelphia is going through a gun violence crisis All the gun violence prevention bills you oppose would go a long way in helping the people of Philly and its suburbs. Here’s an article if you want to learn a thing or two about Philly. inquirer.com/politics/phila…

10 years since the Aurora shooting.

One of the weapons used to slaughter 13 people and injure 70 was an S&W M&P15 semiautomatic rifle.

Today, @HouseJudiciary is marking up the #AssaultWeaponsBan to stop any new purchases of this deadly semiautomatic rifle to civilians.

220 Democrats and 47 Republicans passed the Respect for Marriage Act to enshrine same-sex and interracial marriages in federal law.

We can't assume any right is the law of the land with this extreme Supreme Court.

Proud to protect this essential right for all Americans.

House Dems stand with our colleagues who got into #GoodTrouble today.

It's clear that all rights to privacy are at stake with this extreme SCOTUS.

So, today I’m joining @HouseDemocrats, and hopefully some Republican colleagues, to pass the Respect for Marriage Act.

#EqualMarriage must never be left to right-wing state politicians.

So glad that @salfordbeach's tireless dedication and innovation to revitalize Pottstown into a hub for business is being noticed by many outside our community. Peggy Lee-Clark is a force!
We now are pleased to welcome @RepDean, Co-Chair of the Women’s Caucus. Rep. Madeleine Dean is committed to advancing issues to benefit women and girls. Today’s speaker @salfordbeach also is from Pottstown, PA, which is in Rep. Dean’s district. #WCPIEconSeries pic.twitter.com/yQVPnl3nwD

Let's start Monday with a quick recap. Last week, the @gop voted against:

1) Keeping communities safe with an Active Shooter Alert system

2) Allowing everyone to cross state lines for health care — aka, taking away a basic right

They voted against your safety & your freedom.

I’ve tested positive for COVID and am currently isolating with mild symptoms. Thank you for the many well-wishes, and stay safe.
Replying to @RepValDemings
Glad to hear that your symptoms are mild. Wishing you a speedy recovery, @RepValDemings!

This week, @HouseJudiciary will hold a markup on an assault weapons ban.

This bill will not take guns away from responsible gun owners; it will stop new semiautomatic weapons from being sold to civilians.

Recent tragedies prove — We have enough weapons of war in our society.

It’s not preseason yet, but any Sunday is a good time to celebrate the @Eagles.

Delighted that kids in our community had this opportunity.

Thank you @JalenHurts! 💚

#FlyEaglesFly
The inaugural event was held today at Cheltenham High School, where dozens of kids got to run through drills with the Eagles quarterback:

Starting today, we have a new nationwide number to call for suicide prevention, mental health, and substance use crises: 988.

Call or text 9-8-8 to talk to a trained crisis counselor who can give you advice and assistance in the moment you need it most.

As Republicans continue to spread cruelty and lies, I want to lift up the heroism and professionalism of Dr. Caitlin Bernard who cared for a 10-year-old rape victim.

She is a hero and patriot, regardless of what shameful right-wing media figures and so-called leaders say.

Just like we did in September, the House passed #WHPA to codify Roe.

And yes, I know it will be blocked in the Senate, but I will continue voting yes until we have enough Senators with the courage to break the filibuster and pass laws to protect reproductive freedom.
The Women’s Health Protection Act will:

📃Codify Roe v. Wade

✅Create federal protection against state laws that restrict women's health

🛑Prohibit unwarranted restrictions that single out abortion services or providers

Beyond proud to serve in this House that passed #WHPA.

In this scary post-Roe world, women are forced to cross state lines to save their lives.

We must protect the right to travel and #ProtectAbortionAccess.

So, today I'll vote for @RepFletcher, @RepRaskin, and @RepStricklandWA's Ensuring Women’s Right to Reproductive Freedom Act.

Congress has the authority and the responsibility to protect Americans from unconstitutional efforts to punish people exercising their right to travel to other states for reproductive health care and the people who are caring for them.

When we support our service members and their families, we strengthen the heart of America's national security.

Today I’ll vote for #FY23NDAA, which will support a well-deserved pay raise for those who serve our nation.

Members of @HouseGOP have once again shown their true colors when it comes to reducing gun violence in our country.

168 Republicans voted against the Active Shooter Alert Act, which establishes a program that will swiftly notify people of an active shooter in the area.

"The witness, our expert here, fabricating that if a girl had a procedure to save her life, that it’s no longer an abortion. Of course it is, it’s a medical procedure. Republicans think women are too stupid to make decisions for ourselves."
-@RepDean

Last night, the House voted to uphold our promise to toxic-exposed veterans by passing my Honoring our #PACTAct.

This is the solution we need to expand access to healthcare and disability benefits for the millions of veterans exposed to toxic substances during their service.

Sending love to @RepJayapal and her family.

Xenophobia is a dangerous poison spewed by far too many in our society, risking the safety of immigrants across our nation.

Relieved that my colleague and her family are safe after such a terrifying situation.
