Today, I proudly introduced my bill: Affordable Housing And Area Median Income Fairness Act of 2022.

Affordable housing is entirely unattainable for far too many Americans, especially New Yorkers. The time is now to change that.

I💯applaud this effort because it underscores the real danger and demonstrated threat election disinformation poses to our democracy.…
Well said, @SenSanders, well said.
If you can’t stand up for a woman’s right to choose, for voting rights, for an economy that works for all, why are you caucusing with the Senate Democrats? We need a Democratic Majority where all members believe in economic, racial, social and environmental justice.
I fully back this petition, as well @SenatorLujan and @JoaquinCastrotx, because at the end of the day, it's about enhancing @FCC decision-making when it comes to improving diversity in the media marketplace.
I commend @fusetv, @publicknowledge, @NHMC, @UCCMediaJustice & @CommonCause on this petition urging the @FCC to report on the diversity of content vendors used by FCC-licensed companies. This report would help create a more inclusive industry reflective of our nation’s diversity.
I want to express my sincere condolences to the family of journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh. Some of them call New York's 9th District home. This tragedy is yet another reason why we need a path to a two-state solution in the region.…

Anne A. Witkowsky, Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations (CSO) says the @StateDept is taking a broad approach in developing a plan for a Haitian-led solution.
Replying to @RepYvetteClarke
I also asked about expectations of the 2019 Global Fragility Act, a new U.S. approach to conflict prevention and stabilization.
Today, at the Subcommittee: International Development, International Organizations and Global Corporate Social Impact Hearing I asked our witnesses where we are in addressing the crisis in Haiti.

My body, my decision!
We will not watch legal abortion go quietly.

Today CPC, @ProChoiceCaucus, and @DemWomenCaucus members led their House colleagues in a march to the Senate ahead of the vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act.

Abortion is a right, and we will not stop fighting to protect it.
The confirmation of economist Lisa Cook to serve on the Federal Reserve Board, makes her the first Black woman to sit on the panel's 108-year history, and an excellent choice to reign in inflation.

Congratulations, Dr. Cook!
Today’s inflation data show that inflation is moderating. While this is undoubtedly good news, Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is still our greatest threat to keeping prices low.
Hear, hear!
Every single Senator supported a filibuster carve-out to raise the debt ceiling only 5 months ago.

But when it’s voting rights and abortion rights at stake, those same Senators refuse to act.

We must abolish the filibuster.
Members of Congress must lead by example. As we advocate for workers’ rights to unionize across America, we must grant our staff the exact same rights here in the halls of Congress. I'm proud to vote for @RepAndyLevin’s resolution to do just that.

I'm on the House floor to present my bill, the Ukraine Comprehensive Debt Payment Relief Act. @Ukraine needs its scarce resources to provide for its people, and defend itself against Putin's invasion.
Democrats & Republicans are making sure Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine does not go unanswered.
That's why I am voting in support of:

Good news! @FCC has opened a third application window for schools & libraries to apply for the Emergency Connectivity Fund. These funds help close the #HomeworkGap by giving students the resources they need to connect to the internet at home.

The deadline is 5/13— don’t miss it.
It was a sincere honor to witness the Honorable Nick Perry ascend to U.S. Ambassador to Jamaica alongside his wife Mrs. Joyce Perry, and other dignitaries at the White House. He will undoubtedly lead America with excellence and help strengthen our dynamic partnership.

227 days ago @HouseDemocrats passed the Women’s Health Protection Act so that this doesn’t become our reality.
Not one House Republican voted to uphold #RoevWade and access to abortion care.

The way the Fed acts to lower inflation is by raising interest rates in order to increase unemployment and put downward pressure on wages. If the Fed raises interest rates too much, the “cure” for inflation could be far worse than the disease.

Every day is #MothersDay for me because my mom, Dr. Una S. T. Clarke never misses a chance to make sure that I’m healthy and strong, and doing right by the people of the community. Thank you for your unconditional love, guidance and support, Momma. Happy Mother's Day!🌺
The government must continue to mature its public-private partnerships to ensure that critical sectors are cyber resilient because the cyber threats we face are serious. We must continue to make meaningful progress to defend ourselves.
Thanks to President Biden’s policies, America is on the path towards the greatest economic recovery in history. With 428,000 jobs created just last month and 8.3 million added since the @POTUS took office, it's clear the effects of the #BidenBoom is good for workers and wages.

Thank you to the office of @RepYvetteClarke for meeting with us in the lead up to #NursesWeek to listen to nurses' priorities!

Nothing better than seeing labor organizers given their full due.

@POTUS is among the most pro-labor presidents in decades, and this historic meeting is an important demonstration of his support.

We look forward to further executive action to raise wages and support workers.

No matter how we may feel about abortion personally, there's one thing we all can agree on:

It should be legal, and everyone should have the option to decide if it's right for them.

Today, Roe v. Wade is the law of the land. We need to keep it that way.
When we move to become better, we celebrate historic moments like these. Congratulations @KJP46! I have no doubt you will continue to excel in your new role as White House press secretary.…
13 states have automatic "trigger laws" that would ban abortion if #RoeVsWade is overturned. Congress must act now to pass the #WomensHealthProtectionAct into law, because our lives are at stake.…
The April 12 attack at the 36th Street station in Sunset Park, Brooklyn must be treated as a serious threat to Americans and our national security.
"We have a right to know whether the cameras are working effectively," said Vice Chair @RepRitchie. "My message to the @MTA is that the federal government is watching."…
In my beloved Brooklyn and too many communities across this nation, affordable housing has become entirely out-of-reach to those who rely on them. I'm fighting in Congress to change that!

During my interview w/Laura Coates on @SIRIUSXM @SXMPOTUS to discuss the Supreme Court draft opinion that would overturn #RoeVWade I made clear how it puts many lives at risk and poses an existential threat to women. This is a regressive moment in 🇺🇸.

The first Freedom Ride left Washington, D.C. on May 4, 1961. And for the next 7 months and 6 days the #freedomriders, including my late friend John Lewis, challenged the injustices and institutional segregation inflicted upon Black Americans. Today, we honor their sacrifices.

Excuse the lecture @LeaderMcConnell, the millions of women losing the right to make their own health care decisions don’t care who leaked it.

They care that a fundamental right will be stripped away by an un-elected right wing court.

That's the REAL news of the day.

13 states have automatic "trigger laws" that would ban abortion the second Roe is overturned. 9 more have unenforced abortion bans that are currently blocked by Roe.

These states also have some of the highest child poverty rates.
Last night's draft decision is a stark reminder that abortion rights are still under attack by this extreme Supreme Court.

We MUST end the filibuster and make the Women's Health Protection Act law.
Tonight, I am disgusted.

This is an unprecedented, vicious assault on the universal rights of women to make their own choices for their own lives, and I dread to see the pain that will follow this unofficial ruling.
The Supreme Court has voted to strike down Roe v. Wade, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito and obtained by POLITICO.

“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” Alito writes.…
Despite the recent legal setback, I am confident we will end #Title42, thanks to our work in Congress and an administration that is committed to fixing our broken #Immigration system.
3 points:
📍Title 42 is public health law; shouldn't be used to circumvent immigration law.
📍Title 42 made things worse; took away existing process for asylum seekers.
📍We need legal pathways (which Trump destroyed) for humane immigration system.…

We can't accept the status quo & let industry put profits over people. That's why I introduced the #EJforAll Act.

We're going to confront environmental racism & give communities, like those in Cancer Alley, the power to fight back against polluters.
Extending my warmest wishes to all those celebrating Eid al-Fitr, ending the month-long fasting of Ramadan. May the spirit of goodwill continue within all of us throughout time.
Proud to be an Original cosponsor of The Tulsa-Greenwood Massacre Claims Accountability Act.

I introduced H.R. 3466, The Tulsa-Greenwood Massacre Claims Accountability Act, to allow survivors and their descendants access to the federal courts.

May 1st is celebrated across the world as International Workers Day, a time for working class activism and community.

In the U.S., workers are finding power in a union — but it's still too hard to secure their right to organize.

It's time: End the filibuster. Pass the PRO Act.
