How can so much snow fall? It has to do with the cold air flowing across the relatively warm lake. The winds also play a vital role in creating the lake effect snow bands which can pummel the same location for days. twitter.com/WxNB_/status/1…

The aurora dancing above Zhongshan Station in Antarctica is simply breathtaking. The snowfields reflect the vibrant colours to create an otherworldly spectacle.

The old national record heat for November (27.6C Gradacac in 1996) was massacred with 29.1C at Banja Luka.
Most of the stations had their warmest November day on record.

There have been countless temperature records but this is the most impressive in my opinion.... Austria 🇦🇹 has just recorded its warmest October night nationally in measurement history. Minimum temperature of 20.4°C is a tropical night by definition.

So there we have it. It is confirmed that Scotland is snow-free yet again. The last patch, the Sphinx, disappeared sometime in the last 24 hours. The Sphinx has now vanished four times in the last six years, having done so only five times in the last 300 years. (1/2)
