自民党政権は辺野古の新基地建設の理由を「普天間飛行場の危険の除去」と言い続けて来たが、辺野古の新基地が完成しても滑走路が短いため米軍の大型機は離着陸できないので普天間飛行場は閉鎖せずに「並行利用する」と米軍は言っている。
