Other countries have mental health issues, depressed kids, drugs, violent movies and video games...but they don't have school shootings like the US.
IT'S
THE
GUNS.

It’s the criminals. It’s mental health. Its drug addicts. It’s not feeling safe under Prop 47. It’s dine and dash & the destruction of our small restaurants & businesses. It’s NIMBYs. It’s government corruption. Etc, etc.. It’s California. I’m staying armed.

Too many people live in fantasy land. If we get rid of guns there will be no more shootings. Blah blah blah. Violence and crime will ALWAYS happen. Criminals are not going to turn in their guns. I don't get how people don't get this

But I thought gun control stopped this stuff?

I thought that California’s gun laws prevented this??

In reply to @latimesopinion
Yeah, in the most gun controlled state in the country, it's always the guns.

Guns caused a mass shooting? So the gun went in there by itself and shot up the place with no one manipulating it? This is the first I've ever heard of this happening.

As always, the shooter will be found to have been on, or very recently been on psychoactive drugs, prescribed, usually. It is by logic, not the guns. Hundreds of millions of gun owners do not shoot up anything. 100% of school shooters have been on psychoactive drugs. It's drugs.

No, it's the sick shooters. Guns are inanimate objects.

In reply to @latimesopinion
No it’s not the guns! Guns have been a part of our country since it was established! It’s our society, we need God more than ever, and we need prayers in school! Parenting also needs to be done at home! Let’s get back to basics, that has proven to work!

Dear LA Times, "Guns don't kill people. People kill people."
"No one aged 16 or under should bear firearms," quote from LA Times. High School students in rural eastern Pennsylvania and northwest New Jersey bear arms for deer hunting season annually for decades. Fact.

In reply to @latimesopinion
No it isn’t. It’s kids not being protected from lunatics radicalized by Hollywood murder videos called movies.

The first question anyone has after learning a 16 year old has shot several people is not about the himself. You identify with the teens you know, you think of how young that is, maybe the skateboarder across the street. And you ask...”How does a 16 year old get a gun.”#GunsKill

"The gun lobby and 2nd Amendment hard-liners shake their heads and say, nope, this isn’t on us. It’s mental illness. Or it’s this or it’s that but, Lord, no, it’s never the guns.

Except it’s always the guns. And the bigger and badder the firearm, the worse the carnage."

Shame on you @cindyhydesmith semi automatic and automatic guns do not protect us and they are not used for hunting.

Wrong...it's always the person, state of mind & intent, regardless of weapon. And it will continue to be failure to properly use & enforce system(s) in place meant to restrict access to person(s) who never should've had them in first place. But, sure, it's always the guns...

In reply to @latimesopinion
That's a dangerous oversimplification. 👎

In reply to @latimesopinion
If you really wanted to kill people you would do it with your bare hands, shooters are lazy

In reply to @latimesopinion
But.... but.. derpa derps2nd amendment derpa!!

In reply to @latimesopinion
We're gonna do this talk again?

It's the people. It's always the people. In London, people who kill are now using knives because the government claimed "it's the guns". The Founding Fathers were smart enough to know that you need deadly force to stop those who would deprive you of your rights. #FactsMatter

It's the #DemocraticParty's culture of hate & violence that normalized the #SaugusShooting. It's wrong that #Democrats create a culture normalizing #harassment. The 15 year old shot 6 people. Baltimore teens brutalized a 15 year old. #Dems attack people wearing MAGA hats. pic.twitter.com/ZxrJ3QEjTF

In reply to @latimesopinion
It's about the murderer not the murderers weapon.

This is a painful ploy to make a political point over the guise of news about families that had their lives changed today. You literally wrote a paragraph about a tragedy so you had a reason to spend the rest of the article writing about gun control.

In reply to @latimesopinion
How many more of our children must die before we admit that gun control laws are a complete failure and do something to actually help keep our kids safer? #ArmedGuardsAtSchools

In reply to @latimesopinion
I don’t mind if you blame the shooter for the killings. But you have to admit slaughter guns make it easy to kill a whole bunch of people economically and in a hurry.

In reply to @latimesopinion
Fact check : It’s not the guns.

In reply to @latimesopinion
Its mental illness it's always mental illness

Never heard of gun shooting by itself. Something else must pull the trigger. Let's focus on that "something" instead of the tool. He could just as easily used a car. Let's outlaw cars!

I’ve spent significant time in the Saugus neighborhood and it pains me that they must go through a tragedy like this. When will politicians put politics and the NRA aside for bipartisan legislation to solve the gun epidemic in this country? #SaugusHighShooting #GunControlNow

These school shootings have to stop! It gets angry and paranoid to know that students' lives are being taken away!
