I found this so interesting because Trump openly venerates and covets elite credentials most politicians prefer to pretend they don’t have. So tonight you got Trump being like wow Kennedy Oxford wow while Kennedy attempted to portray himself as a good ol’ boy.

It's not about the credentials, it never was. "Cosmopolitan" is shorthand for "gets all judgey about having bigoted views." Having any elite degree is just fine so long as you signal you're open-minded about the bigotry.

Does having a gold toilet make one elite? I find it fascinating that they don’t think Trump is a member of the “elite” club.

Trump thinks he’s related to John F Kennedy.

I’ve been eating avocado on toast for 30+ years. My in-laws had tons of trees. They lived in Chile. It’s a very Chilean thing. Does trump dislike Chileans, too?

I don't like lattes nor avocado toast. I enjoy a good cheeseburger and I like sports. I rarely go to art museums. I believe people should have healthcare, that women should be able to choose for themselves, children should not be caged, and guns should be properly controlled.

And that is to say that both are colossal and entirely transparent frauds.

Kennedy is one of Putin's favorite US Senators. Remember his 4th of July trip to visit Russia pols? For the record, he had hoped to meet w/ Putin on the trip. Sending best wishes from Trump I'm sure. washingtonpost.com/powerpost/repu…

They value ignorance. Its considered an asset in today's GOP. Really sad.

For the record, as a dairy goat farmer, goat milk lattes are gross.

Trump hates what he refers to as Elites because he doesn’t fit in and was basically laughed at by them. He couldn’t buy his way in to the crowd he wanted to be part of. Trump was never an A lister. 😢The cool kids don’t like me!!! 😢

One privileged prick fawning over another prick's privilege, while the second decries "insider elites" is not that contradictory if you just translate:

cultured = effete = fag
cosmopolitan = effete= fag
goat's milk latte-drinkin = effete = fag
avocado toast-eating = effete = fag

He mocks Schumer for crying even though he's constantly telling stories about all the "really strong" people who cry to him.

As a born and bred Southerner, I can attest that many celebrities, especially politicians, cultivate a hillbilly demeanor and drawl as part of the game.

In reply to @ddale8
Only the poorly educated would fall for this schtick. that's why the republicans love them.

In reply to @ddale8
I like when Trump tells the folks at his rallies that he and they went to better schools and have better apartments than the so-called elites.

In reply to @ddale8
Kennedy is a fool.

In reply to @ddale8
Forging a bond with his "blue collar" base who don't get to take a dump into golden toilets? 🤔

Schizophrenia is catching, connected with the disdain for education & erudition. Perhaps it's a way to convince Americans that one really cannot rise above one's state, pull oneself up by the bootstraps, better one's condition. We already know any boy can be POTUS. QED. Sadly.

In reply to @ddale8
Kennedy is smart enough to play stupid, because ignorance is a virtue in his party

Who the heck would put goat milk in a latte? pic.twitter.com/vMS2tLkRje

Nothing worse than an educated fool. Kennedy sucks. GOP LA disgrace. #VoteBlue2020

In reply to @ddale8
Too bad Kennedy didn't take some English grammar while, he was over there. He sounds like, he just jumped off the turnip truck.

So it’s all bullshit is what we’re saying. Out loud to each other as we make direct eye contact, cool, society is totally fine, coolcoolcool

Goat milk latte? Is that a thing?

Interesting how Kennedy ( and others) dumb themselves down to accommodate Trump's message. Perfectly educated adults become idiots in his presence.

In reply to @ddale8
You’d think someone with such an elite pedigree would remember to put his teeth in.

I just saw an old clip of Sen K where he sounded like a standard-issue southern man. Now he speaks like an extra from Deliverance. Blech.

Saw you say that the other day and thought you must mean Ole Miss 😂

And the people in the crowd are thinking like “why do we care about his shoes?”.

I reacted the same because don't Brit politicians have similar hypocrisy re "elites" from Oxford or Cambridge? And I'm aware of criticism of younger Australians for avacodo toast, but is that a thing here too? How do ostrich jackets or Davos in the desert go down in his state?

If they're proud deplorables, I think I'll refer to myself as a proud radical liberal rather than take it as the insult they intend it to be.

In reply to @ddale8
Depends when. Oxford in the 1980s was noted mostly for heroin overdoses.

Hi, can you publish articles for me?

In reply to @ddale8
Those who understand the reference will appreciate the contradiction. But the vast majority of that room only started to wonder if they could like someone who went to Ole Miss.

I guess Mr. Kennedy forgets when he was a Democrat, and a HUGE Supporter of John Kerry's Presidential Bid; just 15 Years ago... Hmm. Baffling, huh? Now, he's just another member of the #ComplicitGOP But, #TheResistance is MUCH Bigger, and NOT DONE YET!

It’s all in maintaining the false facade … and he slow, lazy, southern draw. pic.twitter.com/tBAWpP9lXM

So...tRump is deeply impressed that Kennedy is everything tRump is NOT.

just bc you're educated doesn't mean you're smart

& vice versa

Kennedy is an elite’s elite. Harvard, Oxford, $300 shoes, $200 bottles of wine, only the finest steakhouses. Thought LSU was beneath him. Likes to play good ol’ boy for the crowds.

The outer-borough bully craves credentials.
