Australia sure does get some terrifying weather events. Take a look at this! What a video.

Whoops... Voor deze tegenligger ga je echt wel even aan de kant. Aan eind van video snap je waarom...
Van code rood naar code zwart!

OMG that's insane 😱😱😱 Wonder what happened to the car that drove straight into it?

The fella (and its 100% a fella) driving that second vehicle that just carries on. He was probably on the phone, so didn't notice. "fuck it, be rate"

Elk, this is terrifying and makes the first act of Interstellar seem like a documentary.

I’ve stood out in a dust storm as a child and it was more terrifying than a David Lynch film.

Nothing a multimillion dollar celebrity laden tourism campaign can’t fix aye #ScottyfromMarketing 😒

I've never been in a dust storm like this.😶 I can only endorse that final reminder. Not everyone's had rain to celebrate. It must be so hard, hearing of the deluges - particularly over the cities, where it's just running down the drains. Dry land and dams are craving the rain!

Just when you thought the weather gods couldn’t throw any more at the country...

🇦🇺 #Australia: #AustraliaBushfires #duststorm #floods #hailstorm What a crazy day in Australia. Our house was smashed by golf ball sized hail. Houses flooded, trees down. Bushfires still burning and to top it of these images of a dust storm.... any thing else? #ClimateActionNow

Gust fronts can be invisible, ahead of a wall of rain, or in the case here in Australia, visualised by the most incredible dust storm. They are not uncommon in the Middle East or North Africa but I've fortunately never encountered one. Watch how the visibility drops dramatically.

#sedimentology fans, check out #Dubbo today.

Fun fact: I once experienced one of these, during a long stint of remote fieldwork. We had Bon Jovi playing in the car. Livin' on a prayer is my internal soundtrack for sediment gravity flows, despite it being 12 years ago now...

Amazing how some people immediately make the leap to climate change. Is every weather event now climate change? These dust storms have happened irregularly for 50 years that I know of and probably thousands before.

I think I saw that thing on Star Trek once. It’s actually sentient.

Scary! In my part of regional NSW there has been so much dust they’re concerned rain will contaminate all our water supplies. Rain or no rain it’s a lose lose situation

On my first trip to Bourke, in 1983, I remember seeing signs of windblown sand & soil along the Mitchell Highway, north west of Nyngan. Geographic reason told me this was not a natural feature of the landscape. Clearing of vegetation for sheep, wheat & cattle was the culprit.

This was it exactly in the 40s in The mallee when I was a child. Used to laugh at the roosters who crowed when it was over. They thought it was morning again. The worst part was everything was covered in thick dust in the house. Beds and all.

Look at this dust storm in NSW. Locals saying they’re seeing more of them.

Very wise to pull over when dust storm arrives. Driving straight in is dangerous, cars could be stopped on the road terrified of not seeing anything. Some people don’t think.

can someone else please take just One apocalyptic weather event, australia's had enough

Really informative video of a haboob. Term originated in Saharan Africa and Middke East but they occur in, for example, also in the Sonoran Desert, and in video in Australia.

We are in the end times, surely.

I had friends coming back from a bush race meeting when they were swamped by something like this for an hour and a half and it was terrifying. Poor Dubbo and surrounds is a living hell at the moment

Dust storms like this were a feature of my childhood

Dubbo is located in east-central New South Wales.
I expect the ppl yelling “Unprecedented” to yell it again. No it ain’t.
This is weather, not climate. Climate means decades, not one year. The v bad drought (1 drought <= weather) that helped enable fire also enabled this.

Fffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

I saw some dust storms out there in December but nothing like that .... scary.
