Jeff Bezos' new $165 million Beverly Hills mansion will have:

— 3 hot houses
— 2 guesthouses
— A nine-hole golf course
— A tennis court
— A "motor court" with gas pumps

Remember when Amazon's Whole Foods cut health benefits for part-time workers to save money?

Tax the rich.

Meanwhile, Amazon paid $0 in federal income taxes in 2018.

Seems fair, right?

Reminder: You will pay more for Amazon Prime this year than the entire company will pay in taxes.

In reply to @RBReich
Did you know that tax rates under Eisenhower and Nixon were at or above 70%, and Bernie only wants a tax rate rate for ppl above 10 mil at 52%? His plan is actually quite moderate

In reply to @RBReich
I'm not even rich enough to know what a hot house or a motor court is

In reply to @RBReich
Jeff Bezos, the richest man in the world, SHOULD live a life of luxury. However, his Amazon business making $11BILLION in profits and NOT paying any taxes is totally absurd. NOT acceptable to tax paying citizens. Employees of Bezos should make living wage with benefits - PERIOD.

Yes, let’s tax the flesh from their bones with our teeth.

Amazon paid $0 in federal income taxes in 2018.

In reply to @RBReich
Look. I've *tried* to live with only two hot houses. The man isn't an animal, ok?

In reply to @RBReich
I... don’t have enough money to know what a hot house even is

Here’s the problem with tweets like these:

You can tax Jeff Bezos (worth $160bn+) 99.99% of his wealth & he would *still* have more money, assets, & capital than any working class person will see in their lifetime

Taxing the rich isn’t the answer—ending them is. Redistribution!

In reply to @RBReich
How much corporate tax did Amazon pay?

In reply to @RBReich
Too bad his company pays Zero taxes on the billion$ they make. If they did, perhaps we could house the homeless.

Jeff Bezos can have 50 houses, who cares, he’s completely sell made. Since when is being an innovator a bad thing? pic.twitter.com/WJzUHDg5p3

All of this is so disgusting, especially knowing Amazon didn’t pay taxes. #TaxTheRich

In reply to @RBReich
I'm sorry but no one should have that much money and pay no taxes. No one should have that much money period.

In reply to @RBReich
Upkeep for the girlfriend is costly.

The richest of the rich in this country do not pay the taxes they should be paying. Our infrastructure is abysmal, our education system is underfunded and inequitable, people aren't paid enough in wages to pay their bills even working two jobs, too many without health care. ...

In reply to @RBReich
#GOPtaxScam keeps giving to the richest while #TRUMPTRASH administration bankrupts America. #GOP policies continue to take from taxpayers and give to the rich (it's endless).

In reply to @RBReich
This is Jeff's fifth home he owns . While our taxes went up - Jeff has been shopping cause he paid 0 in taxes . That's the Trump / Republican economy. Next up , taking away your Social security cause Jeff needs a 6 'th home.

this is only possible because Beverly Hills has zoned for mansions, allowing the wealth of the area to concentrate in the hands of a few landowners. SB50 would have likely prevented Bezos from hoarding wealth in this way.

In reply to @RBReich
their warehouse workers are killing themselves trying to "pick" products little pay. Tax the rich and bring back full-time #employees with #benefits, #wagegrowth and stop #goldenparachute clauses where fired CEOs & et al get paid for failing at their jobs! #CountryBeforeParty

Only 2 ways to become a billionaire: 1-born rich, 2- profiteering.

In reply to @RBReich
Money does strange things to decent people. Once they start making considerably more than they "need", they quickly start thinking ... "enough is never enough". Before you know it, they're only thinking of themselves. smdh.

In reply to @RBReich
At a 90% tax rate. Like it was before. The wealthy are skating on their responsibilities.

I can’t believe I pay more taxes than the owner of Amazon. My apartment is probably smaller than one of the 20 bathrooms in his damn mansion. #taxbillionaires for Christ’s sake!!!

The rich also bring in foreign cheap labor to replace US workers. #S386 is the latest scheme.

pitchfork futures are going up

Come on, Bob. It’s only 3 hot houses.

I think there may have been a time optics mattered. They no longer do.

This is so disgusting. What a gross demonstration of excess, unregulated capitalism and not being taxed appropriately. I wonder how he sleeps at night and my guess is just fine on a California king size pile of gold coins and hundred dollar stacks. pic.twitter.com/p3TjY0tsIy

In reply to @RBReich
It's truly amazing what one man can achieve by exploiting the labor of couple hundred thousand low wage workers for decades, getting handouts from city officials, and not paying taxes.

In reply to @RBReich
Boy, I'm glad he can afford all that shit he doesn't need while his employees are penalized for taking bathroom breaks and can't get a decent living wage.

In reply to @RBReich
Absolutely. It is immoral when NR man has a much and millions are in poverty. How do you sleep in a house like that when you know there are human beings sleeping on the street?

In reply to @RBReich
Amazon is a cancer on the American economy. And really, Bezos is a bigger threat to capitalism than Bernie ever could be.

In reply to @RBReich
I’m sure he’ll let all of his employees stay there, who can’t afford housing, or maybe he’ll pay for their medical costs from working too hard? Right? He’s a good guy cuz he created a company and not a single other person has any part in Amazon’s success.

In reply to @RBReich
That is $3m *more* than Amazon paid in taxes in 2019.... finance.yahoo.com/news/amazon-pa…

I don't really care how rich people are. I care how poor people are.

thank you for the info, but only Bernie is going to make them pay...

In reply to @RBReich
I just dont understand why more Americans don't have a problem with this???

In reply to @RBReich
I don't care about his house, but I do care when one of the richest people cuts health benefits for the people that helped him to buy that freakin' house. #GOPTaxScam #TaxTheRich

The is not a single morally defensible reason for a private residence such as this.

In reply to @RBReich
Stop buying from Amazon.

Hypocrite! How much health insurance could he buy with $165 million?

I am just honestly appalled that someone would purchase a $165 million house..... for WHAT ?!?!?!

In reply to @RBReich
We are beyond that. Mulch the rich.

In reply to @RBReich
I could live there and he would never know.

In reply to @RBReich
We should all go back to paying cash at stores. Stop shopping online. It makes you buy things you usually don't need. There are people who won't walk a quarter mile to a store. Won't ride a bike or drive a mile to a store. But they'll buy something from China.

His income is disproportionate to his productivity. He isn’t the winner of a *free* market. He’s a monopolist in some markets, an oligopolist in many more. So his income comes *un*-free markets, which work well for him. But the benefits of capitalism require functioning ones..

Can you afford your next mortgage/rent payment?
Can you afford to go out to eat or to the movies?
Can you afford to fill your whole gas tank?
Can you afford your prescriptions?

Some of those employees that lost coverage were pregnant women. Pretty reprehensible

In reply to @RBReich
With 10% tax it'll be 16.5 million in our hands

You guys are positively OBSESSED with the lifestyles of the ultra wealthy. Honestly, I think you are jealous and would LOVE to be that rich. P.S. I'm all for Amy's tax proposals. They make sense.

Look Robert, let's not have even a hint of begrudgery; let the bould Jeff enjoy his luxuries, ill-gotten as they may be. Focus on what he SHOULD be doing - playing his bloody fair share of tax, and paying his employees a fair wage. He fails on both counts, miserably.

We are going to elect @BernieSanders, and he is going to #TaxTheRich.

This is the man that revolutionized the world by creating a website that will literally deliver you anything you want in a single day for the first time in human history. The man deserves his own golf course.

In reply to @RBReich
The crazy thing is, we could impose any of the "extreme" wealth tax proposals from Bernie or Warren, and Bezos could STILL buy this house 10 times over...

#TaxTheRich and churches, too while we’re at it.

In reply to @RBReich
Weird, the fed chairman was just at his party with javanka last month...

In reply to @RBReich
Nah. One day I'm going to be a billionaire.

Amazon paid zero taxes
#TaxTheRich they win't even notice.

In reply to @RBReich
Those health benefits for part-time workers and those with same sex partners was why I started working there in the first place.

If you don’t like Amazon so much, why do you use them to sell your books? pic.twitter.com/8eZ5tfO7vc

Astonishing that people worried if someone would waste $1,000/month #UBI
This is the perfect example of how the rich will never have enough and just decide one day to start sharing thee money the steal through immoral business practices (that our government allows)

In reply to @RBReich
I’m all for capitalism but this is beyond that. Workers should be paid a living wage and receive benefits if the boss is doing that well. Without good workers the company will most likely fail.

In case you were wondering what not taxing US Corporations properly gets you...

I suspect trillionaires like Bezos who amass & horde obscene amounts of money have deep seated mental health issues that may include paranoia, shallow empathy/sympathy, narcissism and a disassociation with reality. He eliminated health care for his Whole Foods workers? WTF??!😡

In reply to @RBReich
This is America. Each individual has the same opportunity as the next. People shouldn’t have to apologize for “success.”

In reply to @RBReich
Are we all gonna pretend we know what a motor court is?!?!??? So rich I don’t even understand the concepts

In reply to @RBReich
It’s ok to be rich, but when more and more of a nation’s wealth is hoarded into fewer and fewer hands, it never ends well.

In the US, the rich do not pay their share of taxes. Meanwhile, in modern Scandinavian & European countries, their citizens have universal healthcare, paid paternal/maternal leave, living wages, free education, etc. & less stressful lives than Americans.

In reply to @RBReich
Bezos ALSO cut the monthly Whole Foods bonus system, where employees got a decent percentage of hitting monthly sales goals It forced many workers who depended on the bonuses as part of their wages to quit

We know where the money is for health care, day care, schools, green investment.

In reply to @RBReich
The only way to tax the rich is take power back. Win the Senate, House, President. Number 1.

In reply to @RBReich
I'm with you guys. The system just isn't fair.

You guys said wealthy people don’t spend their money

In reply to @RBReich
There are many others you could include. Why not pick a Koch brother maybe?

Amazon is a cancer on the economy. Avoid at all costs. Avoid as if your future depended on it.

If you ever need to make yourself vomit, just say “Jeff Bezos in a Hot House” aloud.
