Pete Buttigieg is the "white moderate" Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. warned us about.

The revolutionary politics of the 60s is precisely what we need now. That comment made Pete Buttigieg seem far too young for national office.

Imagine being so #racist that you think the civil rights movement was a bad thing. 馃憖 #DemDebate2020 @PeteButtigieg #BlackLivesMatter

He was born in 1982. Fuck Pete.

lost me with that comment. I lost respect for him. It would be like me (a Boomer who marched and sat-in during the 1960's) denigrating The Greatest Generation and their bravery and accomplishments in WWII. Just No.

Pete is filled with empty slogans. Tries to impress the audience with scripted lines. 鈥淲ow Pete.. that line about Denmark,South Carolina was such a zinger!鈥

He's too conservative to be the white moderate 鈥淪hallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will.鈥 -MLK medium.com/discourse/mora鈥

He said was that we're not living in the 50's, going back to the problems we had with Cuba we're not living in the 60's, the problems we had with racism, war, et cetera we're looking to the future make this country better. So stop taking things out of context! #Pete2020

When I heard he talked about everyone on the #DemDebates stage being white insinuating they鈥檝e all inherited equal amounts of white privileged my heart felt for the Jewish community not gonna lie. Idk how they see themselves, but like many of the African Americans and myself.

Is a shame that people with latin roots still supports a socialist like Bernie and trying to distort @PeteButtigieg words. Latinos have suffered in the hands of those regimes and is shameful seen others supporting people who have supported those regimes such as @BernieSanders

Buttigieg taking a dig at the Civil Rights Era? It鈥檚 a no from me. #BernieOrBust

In reply to @CDRosa
Lies. He was NOT talking about the Civil Rights Movement. He was talking about the Cold War and Bernie vacationing in the USSR. The Soviet Revolution in 1967.

In reply to @CDRosa
JFC he was taking about cold war stuff not the freaking civil rights movement

When it comes to nostalgia for the 50s, it never seems to be about the 90% tax rate & strong unions, which built the bulk of our infrastructure, helped us beat the Russians to the moon, & made it so even entry-level workers could afford a middle-class lifestyle.

Pete is just a shallow guy

We need someone who has built a diverse coalition of people, White people, Black people, Latino people, Indigenous people, LGBT people, working class people, moderate people, and more. We need #PresidentBernieSanders to lead our political revolution. #DemDebate

In reply to @CDRosa
That wasn't the point. And there's nothing you can do to change the fact that Bernie straight up "looked at the bright side" of Castro's brutal regime because he indoctrinated children.

From what I've seen, #Buttigieg laughs & mocks every challenge on stage while spewing divisive unintelligible double speak.
Why is he on stage & Tulsi isn't?

Yeah - I like Pete, I think he鈥檇 be a fine president - but this statement really missed the mark. I assume he鈥檚 trying to quash the revolution supporting Bernie, but that was not the right analogy. The crowd seemed a bit confused too.

Soo true, listen to him closely and truth is revealed!

In reply to @CDRosa
He ridiculed the 鈥渇ailures鈥 in the 1960s because the left became hostile and harmful to themselves. God forbid someone has an opinion on things we could鈥檝e done better in the past 馃檮

In reply to @CDRosa
Oh come on we don鈥檛 need to play semantics you know exactly what he meant

In reply to @CDRosa
I disagree with your assessment, the comment was in reaction to misplaced nostalgia that does not serve us in face of challenges we will confront in the future.

Amazing what crap is made up to vilify another candidate trying to get Trump out. #BernieGoons will drive anybody away w this negative shit. Just fucking stupid juvenile mentality. If Bernie fails to get the nomination you better put up for whomever does or you're all hypocrites.

No, given his treatment of the black community in South Bend (e.g. abusing code enforcement to displace poor black homeowners so he could gentrify, firing the first black police/fire chiefs, etc.), he would more likely have been on a white "Citizen's Council."

In reply to @CDRosa
I was very disappointed in him watching this debate.

If you still think a centrist can beat trump, you haven鈥檛 been paying attention.

Pete, you were a rude little snot last night with your air of superiority.

In reply to @CDRosa
You know damn well Pete wasn't referring to the Civil Rights movement. Stop with the nonsense.

Yikes. This is bad. Really really bad.

Exactly. Be alert for these sort of white moderates who will defer to comfort and order every time instead of justice.
