The Canadian Medical Association says "paid sick leave is urgently required."

Last week Doug Ford said anyone calling for paid sick days is "totally irresponsible" and "doing a disservice to the people that they’re telling this to."

Perhaps the CMA should start asking why the PCR Test Cyvle Threshold is set more than 30 across Canada when it's proven repeatedly & countless times to give out false positive results???

Don't you just hate doctors who sell out their medical ethics!!!
The failures of these provinces' governments should not cost the lives of their residents. If we can help, we should. The "screw them" attitude I'm seeing is...deeply unsettling.
Obviously they're talking about us (Atlantic Canada). Can we send resources to health zones bordering New Brunswick and fan out from there? Expanding the bubble as we go?
not gonna lie, i'd be upset if it took me longer to get my vaccine after i spent a whole year not going out, hardly hanging out with friends, only seeing my parents 3 times.

but also i would totally understand. the "fuck you, got mine" attitudes i'm seeing are deeply troubling.
Too bad so many of the premiers stopped caring last year
You can't vaccinate your way out of a wave.

You have to lock down. I mean, actually lock down. Not closing a few aisles in Walmart.

That's just reality.
All of the provinces had over a year to prepare extra beds, extra ICU capacity, etc.
What did they do during that time?
“... an enhanced form of paid sick leave is urgently required.”

Leave it to Ontario to fuck it up for everyone else. It’s embarrassing to live in this province some days.

I thought billions of dollars in federal aid to provinces 'was' the unprecedented measures. Appears the premiers need unprecedented assistance.

If you want Atlantic Canada’s results do what Atlantic Canada did. Stop interprovincial travel. Mandatory quarantines for those who must travel. That’s the solution. Not stealing from already impoverished provinces. #cdnpoli

Canada is going all-in to fight COVID. Meanwhile, US states are unmasking.
I would have less of an issue with this letter if provinces like Ontario had not willfully walked into this tragedy. I have relatives & friends in provinces which have worked tirelessly with the science to curb spread. The people in those provinces deserve to get vaccinated.
🤔We have sacrificed a lot here in the Maritimes by community compliance with the directives of Public Health in order to have and continue to have low case numbers. Will we be sacrificing again with diminished access to vaccines now?? Yay for us but kinda nervous about this.

Good luck. Canadian regions hate each other and do not cooperate on anything, remember?
In reply to @CBCAlerts
Close provincial borders.

Speaking as someone from an area handling COVID-19 well, (so we’d have things diverted from us) remove the leaders responsible (Ford, Kenney) for the goddamn mess before a single thing is diverted.
Imagine having two kids. One is well-mannered and the other is a shit-head. You punished the well-mannered and rewarded the shit-head.

Fuck off.

Ontario has asked Alberta, Sask, AND the federal government to send health care workers: globalnews.ca/news/7762005/c…
Gov't needs to do more and intervene in hot spot areas. Many people are not adhering to safety guidelines and there needs to be consequences for that. The areas that have managed well have not done so by accident.

It’s time for the Trudeau government to redistribute vaccines where they are urgently needed. Help
We shared our Covid protocols and lockdown measures. They chose not to listen.
Ok. We are on our own. Ford has left the building. S.O.S.
"an enhanced form of paid sick leave is urgently required."
Here we gooooo 🌊 😷
In reply to @CBCAlerts
So they want vaccines diverted to areas where there are surges because people refuse to follow protocol, when the rest of us, doing it correctly, will have to wait longer because the selfish ones who refused to consider everyone else, are now going to be rewarded for it? Shit.

Time to nationalize the country. 🇨🇦
In reply to @CBCAlerts
We are either united as country in time of crisis or just a collection of provinces. Not our first crisis & won’t be our last. Next time - instead of vaccines - the scarce resource might be water, medicines, firefighters, oil, food etc. Per capita or based on need???
In reply to @CBCAlerts
What happened to the good old fashioned "flu"?
In reply to @CBCAlerts
today Canada is in 43rd place globally in “total vaccines per 100 people”. Only 2.2% of our population is fully vaccinated. Awesome work by the Branch Covidian Utrudopian Cult!

Ontario will ask federal government for more than 600 critical care staff to support the province's hospitals with ICU occupancy. cbc.ca/news/canada/to…
Guess that explains why NS is shutting down vaccine clinics for health care workers.
In reply to @CBCAlerts
We are on our own. We need to mobilize. Ford has left the building.
I wonder if the Atlantic Provinces will make any changes?
In reply to @CBCAlerts
Why has the federal government not been asked to deploy people to administer more vaccines?
Delivering vaccines on a per capita basis rather than to the hardest-hit regions is ineffective. Yes, redirect vaccines to the places with the highest causality rates/hospitalizations.

And despite what @fordnation says, #PaidSickDays are NECESSARY.

#cdnpoli #COVID19ON #COVID19
Nah just bc the rest of the country fuckin up don't mean they should take our vaccines

How will Dr Henry, B.C. ‘s PHO respond to CMA’s desperate plea for leadership? More gaslighting and blame dispersion is the correct answer ✅✅✅
Lmao like the provinces are gonna change now. That would be an admission they badly screwed it up, and we all know that hubris IS very important
So NOW we hit the panic button. Why is everything these days done after unnecessary delays? Provinces should NEVER have been allowed to manage this separately. As a Pandemic by definition it should have been a completely #FederalMatter from the beginning. #CanadaCovid19Failures

would rather let people die and hide behind jurisdiction than do something that he fears may affect his electability. Its better for him politically to let @fordnation and @jkenny fail than it is to use the powers he has to intervene and save lives.
In reply to @CanadianPM
@CanadianPM @JustinTrudeau please help us here in Ontario. @fordnation @LimitedRunGames @erinotoole are abject failures at managing this pandemic People are dying snd more will without help. Remove @fordnation !.

Any one of you sheep on here can have my vaccine.
