Metroid II: Return Of Samus arrived on the Nintendo Game Boy in 1991, making it the first portable entry in the series. Samus is sent to planet SR388 to destroy the last of the Metroids, which she successfully does, but spares the baby Metroid that believes she is its mother.

In Super Metroid, Ridley and the nefarious Space Pirates have stolen the baby Metroid hatchling, and Samus returns to Planet Zebes to recover it and defeat them. This title is currently available to play via #SNES - #NintendoSwitchOnline.
