徳川慶喜の静岡時代の趣味の一つに自転車があるが、駿府に住んでいた時には家臣たちと一緒にサイクリングしていた(家臣は走ってお供)
走る家臣に靴を買うようにと3円ずつ支給していたらしい。
なお自転車走行中、美人にみとれて電柱にぶつかったというマンガみたいなエピソードがある。
