Yesterday, we manoeuvred our Cryosat🛰️to avoid a potential collision with #spacedebris. Rocket bodies are some of the largest items launched to space and in this case, a defunct Pegasus-2 upper stage was going to get pretty close to our ice mission🧊

A collision with this 200 kg rocket, travelling at 7,500 metres per second, would be catastrophic. It would also create an enormous cloud of fast-moving #spacedebris in one of the most important and busy space highways.
