'Moonlight.' (1897) George Hendrik Breitner was an important figure in Amsterdam Impressionism, known especially for his depiction of atmospheric effects especially stormy weather. This dramatic picture was painted out of doors; Breitner contracted pneumonia shortly afterwards.
