Alabama prison officials just confirmed to me that prisoners at all major facilities are striking by refusing to work.

Prisoners offered several reasons including the “humanitarian crisis” inside.

And in case you forget: DOJ is already investigating AL’s prisons.

Here is a list of reasons for the strike/ work stoppage sent to me by a prisoner today: pic.twitter.com/eg7jAEiUUY
Usually prisoncrats deny deny deny any inside organizing or action. Info blackout is there first move.

Strike action is so widespread today inside ALL Alabama prisons that the ADOC here is forced to admit "prisoners at all major facilities are striking"!!

Criminal defense attorneys are legally prohibited from unionizing in Texas. This has me wondering if our clients aren’t
Incarcerated labor is heinous. Solidarity.
If you’re not aware of what’s going on in Alabama 👇🏻
Read this thread on the statewide prisoner strike and humanitarian crisis inside Alabama prisons right now 👇
Solidarity with the Alabama prisoners #strike. They should get at least minimum wage for the work they do. It is not right for businessmen who are cozy with state officials to undercut the market for labor by paying prisoners $1 a day (or whatever the lousy rate is).
EVERY individual that is incarcerated in the State of Alabama's correctional facility should have an attorney representing them. Those who have loved ones inside should be able to communicate with them!! The phones are already shitty and most of the video conference phones too
