Thinking about how the Dolphins handled Tua over the past week. Compare that to Mike Tomlin, who held Ryan Clark out of the Denver game due to his sickle cell - despite him being medically cleared - in case something happened.

"I got an obligation to safeguard him."

I wouldn't trade Mike Tomlin for any other HC in the NFL.

This is what coaching and leading looks like @MiamiDolphins. I don鈥檛 know what y鈥檃ll got down their with Squidwart. My have saved @Realrclark25 life.#protecttheplayers

Mike Tomlin is damn near everything that is good about this game.

In reply to @Alex_Kozora
Also remember Tomlin had the team wearing guardian caps during mini camp and OTAs even though the league didn't require them till training camp.

This. Well said, Alex. As a HC, Mike Tomlin cares about each and every player.

I would like Mike Tomlin to coach every team, in every sport.

This why tomlin is da the fucking goat as a coach. He fucking cares

"How can you expect unique results without unique relationships."

This is why Mike Tomlin is one of the best football coaches of all time. Don't @ me.

In reply to @Alex_Kozora
Thursday night football is putting every player at greater risk. No mention of that.....

I literally referred back to this piece from the podcast in my twitterspace tonight during the game when the incident occurred. Coaches have yo make certain decisions for the betterment of his person.

Here鈥檚 a quick lesson on love and leadership well worth your time

In reply to @BrettKollmann
Malicious? Maybe not. Reckless? Likely. Other coaches would鈥檝e benched him.

How can you expect UNIQUE results without UNIQUE relationships!!!

Head Football Coach Mike T !!

I love Coach Tomlin. I鈥檓 a Seahawks fan. I have zero connection to the Steelers. But Coach Tomlin is a HOF Coach and a HOF human.

There is no coach in the NFL better than Mike Tomlin.

In reply to @Alex_Kozora
Browns fan here. I respect the hell out of Tomlin.

Doesn鈥檛 mean the Dolphins are wrong. He鈥檚 cleared, or not.

Hate the stoolers but NOT coach Tomlin!!! 馃し馃徑鈥嶁檪锔

Being a father of 4, this really hit home for me. As a parent, I can鈥檛 imagine what Tuas鈥 mother and father are going through.

I鈥檓 a Mike Tomlin fan for life.

Mike Tomlin will always be the standard.

The distance in character b/w Mike McDaniel & Mike Tomlin is so damn far. Mike T knows who he is & stands by it. McDaniel has a long way to go to equal that.

鈥淗ow can you expect unique results without unique relationships.鈥

Coach Tomlin is the man.

All last night I had to listen to @AlMichaelsOnThe and @KirkHerbstreit talk ad nauseum about how Mike McDaniel was such a positive influence on Tua and on and on, yet when it mattered most he failed him. He should see a real leader at work, @CoachTomlin. #TuaTagovailoa #NFL

This is good stuff right here. Coach takes a lot of heat for things, but this right here is what matters in life 鈥

This goes well beyond the game of football.

Some coaches get it, some don鈥檛 I鈥檓 lucky to have worked with a majority that do

When I got s bad concussion in college the trainers refused to clear me until I could pass the concussion tests in full. And even after I passed, they made me wait another 48 hrs. More leaders that care about you as a whole human.

One of the realest coaches out hea no cap

In reply to @Alex_Kozora
This is why Coach Tomlin is so revered through the NFL, and the country many times over.

This is the type of leadership that needs to be the standard. Take care of your people.

Tomlin should get more praise for this.

This why players love a player鈥檚 coach.. He gone always look out for his players & he鈥檒l protect em from the organization & the media if he has to .. Even if it means him getting criticized or fired 馃挴

In reply to @Alex_Kozora
I was thinking about this story too although I remembered it even before seeing it talked about on that show. It's something I continue to admire Mike Tomlin for.

Not only this, now the report says Tua might travel home with the team tonight? That dude shouldn't be on a plane right now. Based on my limited knowledge of concussions

Mike Tomlin. One of a kind.

In reply to @Alex_Kozora
Tomlin saw what Ryan Shazier went through (not that it was his fault) and is cautious now

Doesn鈥檛 get much better than Coach T 馃

You must care more about him then he cares about himself at that moment!!

鈥淗ow can you expect unique results, without unique relationships鈥

This is leadership.

This is just one small reason that Tomlin is one of the best leaders I鈥檝e ever been around

He so much of a great head coach and can鈥檛 believe his fan base wanted take away his job

McDaniels needs to learn this apparently

In reply to @TuaGangGang
The head coach can sit the player if they think it's necessary. Tomlin did it to Ryan Clark even though he was cleared by the doctors. twitter.com/Alex_Kozora/st鈥

I will always have so much respect for Mike Tomlin. I hate it.

In reply to @Alex_Kozora
Tomlin鈥 damn good coach

Mike Tomlin is a real one!

Mike Tomlin is one of the best coaches I鈥檝e seen bro.

What a proud Steeler moment #HereWeGo

In reply to @Alex_Kozora
Sickle cell vs an independent medical DOCTOR cleared concussion is a wild stance

"How can you expect unique results, without unique relationships!" powerful!

No wonder will criticize boy wonder coaching the Dolphins, but they should.

In reply to @Alex_Kozora
That's why coach Mike T is that dude...leadership!!!馃憡馃従馃憡馃従

In reply to @Alex_Kozora
Gotta love Mike! He is right this is what leaders do and more importantly what great people do. They put others before themselves. Love this! Thanks for posting.

Tomlin is one of a kind.

In reply to @Alex_Kozora
Reaching hard...he already got seriously sick in 2009 from sickle cell in Denver and almost died. So in 2012 they held him out. State it all clowns

In reply to @Alex_Kozora
A lot of the feels here for Tomlin. And that鈥檚 nice. But I鈥檇 happily go in a different direction.

Tomlin played Big Ben when he could barely move countless times over the previous 16 years.

The Steelers are a top notch first class organization. Much respect for that organization and Coach Tomlin. @Realrclark25

This is leadership. Life is bigger than wins and losses.

In reply to @Alex_Kozora
Oh yes the Mike Tomlin of the early years. The smart one who knew how to win playoff games. Not so much so the past 10 years.

In reply to @Alex_Kozora
If Tua was playing this Sun instead of Thurs, it probably wouldn't have happened. 4 days rest, everyone is at risk.

This is what a leader sounds like!!!

No, Tomlin is not the best or greatest coach in the NFL. I think he has flaws on the field. I never questioned him as a person. He鈥檚 a great person. This is just another reason why he is. Sometimes a coach has to care for the player over the game.

Preach Coach T!!

Mike T is such an awesome coach, but an even better man

Tomlin one of the best and loyal as hell man this how y'all watch out for your players they failed tua fire them all we love you tua prayers up馃檹馃徎馃檹馃徎馃檹馃徎at least he got got movement in all his extremities thank god

In reply to @Alex_Kozora
Comparing Ryan Clark to Tua the most important position is ridiculous. Big Ben would of been in there

This is the kind of leadership every NFL player deserves... and the kind of leadership Tua so desperately needed.

Sickle cell: provable concussion: player reported

Respect for Tomlin 馃憤馃徑
