Crude oil prices are down. Oil industry profits are up. Yet... gas prices in CA have increased by record amounts. It doesn’t add up.

We’re calling for a windfall tax so these profits go back to Californians paying for this oil company extortion.

What you do when sirens are blaring 39 days before an election - point finger at others. Yet, you spend $200m to cap wells, slow down permit issuance, make it impossible to increase refining capacity & disincentivize companies to invest given auto phase out starting in 2.5 years

In reply to @CAgovernor
Erroneous to try and connect the super high gas prices in California to oil company profits. See Florida, Texas and NYC for under $4/gal examples. High gas prices in CA are the result of YOUR ridiculous environmental policies.

In reply to @CAgovernor
If the oil companies are doing this, then why are gas prices only 3.68 a gallon in the rest of the nation? I hope you will do something right away. It has to happen now. Horrible! People are being cheated with gasoline with everything else going on.

In reply to @CAgovernor
could provide immediate relief to Californians by suspending the gas tax, but he refuses. Instead he’s making stuff up to blame shift and gain votes. One-party rule has clearly been ruinous to the state, when will people wake up??

In reply to @CAgovernor
If it's the oil companies doing this, why does it only happen in CA?

Love this. Get em @CAgovernor!
Time for windfall tax on oil industry profits.
💲back to the people of California.

Why not use some of the 💸 to create a fund to protect oil and gas workers and nearby communities in the transition off fossil fuels, funded by the oil industry?

Windfall profit tax on oil companies: yes.

In reply to @CAgovernor
What about gas surcharges and all of the other crap that CA imposes on gasoline prices?

In reply to @CAgovernor
What a tool. Every democratic governor of CA always has the same so-called “fix”, which is tax, spend, and regulate. Obviously this is the cause of our problems. Calling it a “fix” is sinful.

oh my, this is interesting. @jamieclimate

In reply to @CAgovernor
We are being ripped off. The higher the price of the gallon the more tax we pay. pic.twitter.com/DCWSb7oBSV

Wow, the governor of California is calling for a windfall tax on oil companies’ profits. That’s in the works in Europe, but it’s another story in the U.S.

Majority, if not all Californians did NOT vote for this. The recall had more than enough support to get rid of him. Elections are nothing but a delusion to make us think we have a choice. "If voting made any difference, they wouldn't let us do it"- Mark Twain (Freemason)

In reply to @CAgovernor
Lower gas prices by lowering taxes and reducing regulations

In reply to @CAgovernor
Stop calling for a solar tax

In reply to @CAgovernor
Look into why 5 refineries are down, 4 planned. There needs to be a way to make sure maintenance is done 1 plant at a time not all 4 at once

In reply to @CAgovernor
Sound like a bunch of hot air, make it direct at the pump. That is what you are for, not corrupt accounting lost in bureaucracy

Where's the rebate we were supposed to get?

In reply to @CAgovernor
Our Governor all talk no action. Oil and gas executives donated to his campaign.

Econ 101- Inelastic demand is a term used in economics to describe a type of demand that is not very responsive to changes in price. In other words, even if the price of a good or service goes up, people will still want to buy it.

In reply to @CAgovernor
Hey while you’re at it how about an extraction surcharge for oil pumped in California?

In reply to @CAgovernor
Suppose all those Cali taxes on gas have anything to do with the price? pic.twitter.com/YU3mW9G3GB

In reply to @CAgovernor
So how much money does your campaign take in from the oil industry and the organizations they are associated with?

In reply to @CAgovernor
Yes gas prices have gone up $1 per gallon in Palm Springs… crazy it’s now $6 a gallon … we need a break

And… perhaps voters will actually read and understand when they vote for a gas tax.

In reply to @CAgovernor
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

In reply to @CAgovernor
How about you just put a moratorium on our gas taxes, LIKE YESTERDAY....???? THAT TO QUICK AND EASY FOR YOU ?

William Alfred Newsom III (February 15, 1934 – December 12, 2018) was an American state appeals court judge, administrator of the Getty family trust, and the father of California Governor Gavin Newsom. Oil Liar!

So you are just going to ignore the fact that your Party is selling our oil reserves off to foreign countries? Gavin Newsolini, the worst Gov. In the history of America, just can’t seem to tell the truth! Mouth opens, nothing but lies come out! URA Vacuum, as in SUCK! MAGA 4 ever!

In reply to @CAgovernor
Your policies are trying to put the these companies out of business, why wouldn’t they raise their prices

In reply to @CAgovernor
What are the state taxes on a gallon of gas in Commie Calli now?

In reply to @CAgovernor
To it’s democratic policies that are raising prices

We are truly ruled by abusive narcissists. They know full well that they are lying, but do it anyway.

In reply to @CAgovernor
You could suspend the state gas tax (highest in the country) till the end of the year. Instead of blaming the oil company’s.

In reply to @CAgovernor
Hey Einstein. This is the only state with gas prices at $6. The rest of the country is half that. Your argument is baseless and you need to explain why California is an outlier.

The gas station down the street from my never lowered their price for 91 beyond 5.75. Then, recently just jacked it up to 6.95. Gas prices are untethered from reality.

In reply to @CAgovernor
Do you realize gas prices increased today just because of what you just said? Do you realize that you are causing more damage than help?

In reply to @CAgovernor
Here’s an even better idea: California restricts oil production in state, how about no more imports of out of state oil. Why is it good to source oil from places with limited enviro control?

In reply to @CAgovernor
Yes, but you're all for taxing rooftop solar and gladly take PG&E's political contributions. You're not democratic enough for me to vote for you. You are part of the problem. I won't vote for a Republican, but I will not vote for you. #NoSolarTax #SaveSolar.

In reply to @CAgovernor
I don’t believe you any more.

In reply to @CAgovernor
Thank you governor. 🙏🏽

In reply to @CAgovernor
Where you wasting our money at? In your election campaign so you can lie to us some more? Especially since you just raised gas taxes again during all this shortage? Why do we have to pay significantly more then every other state???

In reply to @CAgovernor
You think we are stupid. Those of us with a brain know why gas prices are so high,

In reply to @CAgovernor

What happens when oil and gas companies decide to not sell their over taxed product in California? Or when they decide to mark it up even further for California?

In reply to @CAgovernor
Crude Oil prices are up, profits are stagnate. California gas tax rate is one of the highest in the country

In reply to @CAgovernor
California's gas tax is approximately 53.9 cents per gallon per AAA. In addition, your "windfall tax" most likely will be passed on to the consumer.

You’re a thief. You and the worthless democrats are hypocrites. Families are struggling to pay for food and gas and you’re taking bribes and don’t forget drunken Nancy. Her and her husband need to be arrested for insider trading. If Martha Stewart can go to prison so can auntie

Oil and gas companies should just pull out of California. I’ll bet @GavinNewsom will 💩 his pants. Or should I say @RepJerryNadler himself.

In reply to @CAgovernor
Why is gas $2 less in AZ, right next door to CA? If you want cheaper gas in CA, vote out Newsome (crook) and turn CA red. Make CA Great Again. Vote out the Dems.

In reply to @CAgovernor
If you really want to help us cancel the gas TAX!!!! Until then, you are all talk! And you are the selfish one.

#California : @GavinNewsom is a liar, fraud, and #Evil person. Think for a moment; who would pay these taxes; who just increased the gas tax? Who is forcing you to move to unsustainable; #ElectricVehicles & "Renewable" energy that pollutes more than gas. < - #MAGA #America

In reply to @CAgovernor
even if you collect that tax, we will never see that money because you will spend it on something stupid … like a train that will never materialize

In reply to @CAgovernor
Thank you, Sir! Proud to have you as my governor.

California has a new plan, and Bye Bye windfall profits at the nearby gas station monopoly........

Californians! If you want to lower gas prices and install fiscally responsible policies then vote for Brian Dahle in November.

#BigOil having toddler temper tantrums over the EV by 2035 mandate just announced. The very next day price at the pump went up 20¢/gal. Retaliatory price gouging. They want drill baby drill & more subsidies & tax cuts so this is their attempt to get us angry enough to vote GOP.

The master bloviator doing what he does best, not a damn thing good for Californians.

Let’s do the same @GovofCO
If the federal government can’t do it, maybe the states can create some momentum for them? Someone has to protect our states from the liars in the oil and gas industry.
We will regret our inaction on climate in the future if we continue down this path
