Bottom 9. 2 outs. 3-2 count. The moment Cal ended a 21-year drought.

How can you not be romantic about baseball?

The longest postseason drought in North American professional sports is over. For the first time since 2001, the Seattle Mariners are going to the playoffs.

Not a mariners fan but love to see this kind of stuff. This is why we watch. Special. No matter what happens in the postseason congratulations to the Mariners
Sensational!!! M’s the wait is over 🙌
I’m not a Mariners fan but I don’t dislike them either. This is what makes the game great. Plain and simple.
Baseball is SWOONWORTHY.
I’m a goddamn hopeless romantic.

I love baseball with a passion!!!! #SeaUsRise
I can’t believe I got to be in the ballpark for this ahhhhhhh!
I’m hopping on the Mariners bandwagon. With the Rockies and Angels going nowhere, this just seems like a fun ride to get on #SeaUsRise
These type of moments remind you why you fell in love with the game in the first place
The stuff you dream about as a kid
I’m not an Mariner’s fan, but all I can think about is DeAaron Fox hitting a buzzer beater three to clinch a playoff spot for the Kings this year. It has to be the year!
Gooooo M’s!!!!! 21 años esperando!! Yeeeessss 😁😁😁😁 pic.twitter.com/z8F6QpJT1O
The emotions on his face say it all!

According to @EliasSports, it’s the first time ever a pinch hitter hit a walk-off homer to put his team into the postseason.

I am going to try and go to sleep with this on replay over and over tonight
There’s just something special about baseball that I find so hard to accurately articulate.

Dave Sims on the call!!!!
In 2001, I listened to more than 120 Mariners games on my Sony Walkman before they broke my 16-year-old baseball heart. They hardly put up a fight against the Yanks in the ALCS, losing 4 of 5 games with two consecutive Soriano walk-offs.

But then this walk-off 21 years later…

What a dream scenario.
Oh Cal Raleigh ….. what could have been if you’d have worn Clemson across your chest in college ……
Pretty awesome. Played against Cal in high school. Congrats to him and the Mariners!
The watch. The bat toss. The whole moment.

Pretty easily, the owners clearly don’t care about the product, refuse to pay minor leaguers a living wage until compelled, keep their young talent at lower levels longer than they should to avoid paying them etc.
I love this freaking game
