I've been thinking about how "where presidents actually come from" seems to have no resemblance to where pundits anticipate they will come from. A lot of presidents seem like fairly last-minute decisions, or even gambles, as opposed to politicians who spend years seducing voters.
One of the things I’ve tried to stop doing is thinking too far ahead about which popular governors are going to go on to be killer presidential candidates.
