Word of the day is ‘matutolypea’ [mah-tu-toh-lip-ee-ah]: extreme grumpiness in the morning.

From Latin and Greek, ‘suffering of the dawn’.

I've got that. Morning Squee xx
Pretty sure that's actually just called "morning" but I could be wrong.
See if you can get ‘matutolpea’ into your everyday conversation this morning.

"Eoira" Dawn Wrath: the feeling that arises when you hear the phrase "rise and shine!" Also, the inarticulate scream emitted in response to said feeling.
"Good morning!" "What's so fecking good about it" 😠

Especially on a Monday morning for many I would think Susie.
One of my past housemates was confused for a while, thinking I was always mad at her until she realized I was serious when I said I don’t talk in the morning

Hi yes Suffering of the Dawn is metal as fuck
I suffer from pre-caffiene matutolypea.
Only in the morning? ☹️
I definitely have ‘suffering of the dawn’ in the mornings!
In reply to @susie_dent
Everyone reading this is nodding and saying “that’s me!”
In reply to @susie_dent
With a 3 year old who has been obnoxiously awake since 2 am, this is deeply apt.
In reply to @susie_dent
Oh dear....and I'm a Dawn - the term is literally made for me ☺
In reply to @susie_dent
Just tried to pronounce it. After three failed attempts, grumpiness took hold😉
In reply to @susie_dent
I’m still suffering but this has helped. Thank you!
So that’s what it is…
In reply to @susie_dent
I just call it old age.

In Portuguese the word "matuto" is something like "a person who is from the countryside, lacks social skills and whose personality is rustic." Also someone who mistrusts and flinches a lot. I don't know if it has the same Greek root.
In reply to @susie_dent
Holidays nearing do that to you. lol 😆
In reply to @MichaelKav82
@MichaelKav82 Did you know there was an actual word for it? You can put this one on the grave stone!
In reply to @susie_dent
It's easier for me to just say "me".

Anyone else feel spotted?

Matutolypeans in the house, unite (after noon only)!
Der här är ett viktigt ord.

Nu väntar vi bara på ordet som beskriver samma tillstånd under resten av dygnets timmar.
This is what I experience every morning 😂
This one seems spot on for Monday!

Is there a limit to how long it remains matutolypea? Like if you're still the same grumpy six hours later.
In reply to @susie_dent
I’ll need practice to say it methinks!🤔🥴
