Morocco celebrate their win against Spain with a Palestinian flag. Every North African and Middle East team has made sure that the Palestine issue is prominent at every game

While we’re happy with the Morocco win, we should remember that Morocco has been illegally occupying the Western Sahara for 46 years, a people, like the Palestinians, have been denied self determination
It’s amazing really - the Arabs at this World Cup have chosen to affirm the Palestinian cause at every moment. See what a little freedom of expression (even if still limited) does?

But the world will keep quiet coz it's not Ukraine.
Good that Iran, Kurdistan or Afghanistan isn’t :) for a reason.

I remember when players were fined by Europeans FAs if they demonstrated anything related to Palestine like what happened to Kanoute, while they do the same for Ukraine, if anything is prominent then it’s western hypocrisy regarding involving politics in sports. pic.twitter.com/RDKQb6j0Gx
qué simpáticos me pregunto qué opinarán del sahara occidental
I knew other Arab and Muslim countries had love for Palestine, but you can see how genuine the love really is this World Cup ❤️

Always we will Always stand with Palestine
Love them even more now.
Even if governments try to forget the plight of the Palestinians suffering under #Israel's brutal and illegal occupation, it's heartwarming to see that the people of North Africa and the #MiddleEast never will. #Solidarity #Palestine #Morocco #FIFAWorldCup #Qatar2022

What is Palestine? Weird, but couldn’t find this country in the history books or maps.
Coisa linda! 👏👏👏

Nah looking at people crying in comments is just so fun😭🇵🇸❤️
This tweet is a good example of absolute absence of whataboutism dudes. There are no 'whatabout' replies under the tweet or it's like someone is pushing such agenda under Ukraine related tweets?🤔
Out of interest, why does the Palestinian cause get such prominence within Arab state, compared to say the genocide against Uyghur Muslims? I presume it is due to proximity and Palestine being seen as an Arab-solidarity matter, rather than a religious-solidarity matter?
Great to see a united group of players celebrating their most momentous win, on the worlds largest stage, with a political message.

Also, great to see widespread support for their actions, rather than the usual ridiculous comments.
Alvöru lið, annan en gungurnar í prímadonnuliðunum...

What about not mixing politics and football? Is it only applicable when it suits the organizers agenda?
“Keep politics out of sports” Twitter will no doubt be triggered by this.
Wowowowow. Can't believe this turn of events!
Malik itna kharcha ho hi gaya hai ek kashmir ka flag bhi laga do
In reply to @MarkOgden_
I'm proud that they represent Palestine 👏
In reply to @MarkOgden_
And quite rightly so. Free Palestine 🇵🇸

Now do the same with LGBTQ+ rights.
this is really good and morocco over spain every day of the week but it’s also funny they’re doing this while they occupy the last colony in africa. western sahara is not part of morocco. and never will be. long live the sahrawi arab democratic republic 🇪🇭
In reply to @MarkOgden_
The first World Cup in the Middle East should have been in Israel.
Politics and Sport go together, may we stop pretending otherwise!
They should have focused on the pitch rather than political agendas
this makes me so happy :')
In reply to @MarkOgden_
The palestinians much love their leaders. The same chaps have won every election for like the past 17/18 years!
In reply to @MarkOgden_
That is among the wierdest thing in north africa politics. Palestine is supportes by Morocco and Algeria, while both are enemies, while Morocco opress the Saharauis. Which are allies with Algeria and Palestine
And not even one of these islamic countries have said a word about women of #IRAN and #Mahsa_Amini you know why? Because they don’t want women to be free , islam is based on male domination
I’m not saying they shouldn’t talk about palestine but why not both?
But a rainbow armband (that isn't even the pride rainbow) is too political, eh?
So do the Cork supporters....
In reply to @MarkOgden_
I’m feel it’s really important to point out that while I support this….this is also political, perhaps even more politically controversial than any pride flag. Just saying 🤷‍♂️.
In reply to @MarkOgden_
What exactly is the Palestine issue? If those countries are so worried about Palestinian people, why don’t they open their land to them?
In reply to @MarkOgden_
You mean the North African and Middle Eastern countries that have rejected a two-state solution many times since 1948 and have used Palestinians' permanent refugee status (due to Arab-initiated wars) to distract their citizens from their own corruption and human rights abuses?..
❤️❤️❤️ the flag of the ummah
The worldcup is political AF but the accepted politics depends on who FIFA wants to please and that is usually the host nation. That being said, don't be surprised if fans are allowed to enter with guns in the stadium in 2026. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Football & Politics going hand in hand at this #FIFAWorldCup
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely support Palestine's right to exist and oppose illegal occupations and encroachments by Israel, but this is more of a political statement than waving a rainbow flag, no?
Wenger: I cannot believe that a team which made a political statement has reached the quarter finals
vaya, la del Sahara no la sacan

Germany should learn a thing or two
it’s always free Palestine
In reply to @MarkOgden_
What does Palestine have to do with a Morocco vs Spain FIFA World Cup Round of 16 match?
And Western media ain’t showing none of it
It’s always free Palestine 🇵🇸❤️
In reply to @MarkOgden_
Pathetic. Qatar banned any cause but this political act is encouraged. Qatar should be condemned for that
So it’s not keep politics out of football but we’ll decide which politics are allowed
In reply to @MarkOgden_
Congrats MORROCCOOO AND the love u showed fr Palestine God bless u insha'Allah by the grace of GOD u will play final

And also keeping African representation squarely in the universal spotlight that the @FIFAWorldCup represents.
This team makes my heart melt! 🥹♥

"Issue" underplays the reality a little there Mark. Genocide, ethnic cleansing, apartheid are much more in the ball park. Still, appreciate you bringing it up. 👍🇵🇸 pic.twitter.com/6EDJXoWXYS
It's more than a little ironic, considering the history of this flag is anathema to Palestinian national identity, predating it by half a century, and actually represented a form of pan-Arab identity/anti-Ottoman sentiment invented by the British empire to dominate the Mid-East.
Morocco would make a fascinating World Cup host as a nation some day. It's quite a stunning country.

In reply to @MarkOgden_
Unfortunately UK pours in billions to Israel to kill as many civilians of Palestine and wipe them off the map. How shameless UK is
