As the battle for Bakhmut continues, and some question Ukrainian leadership’s decision to hold on to the city at all cost, Zelensky visits ravaged Donetsk Oblast.

A video of him on a popular gas station near the front line, talking to soldiers, will boost morale for now.

This video published by President Volodymyr Zelenksy shows a Russian missile strike on a residential building in Zaporizhzhia on March 22.

"Russia is attacking the city with extreme cruelty, hitting residential neighborhoods where ordinary people and children live," he wrote.

It's pretty wild that I have to point this out, but –

1) Crimea is a Ukrainian peninsula occupied by Russia. 2) Ukraine has all the right to attack Russian troops both on Ukrainian soil and in Russia because that's how war works.

The visit by Japanese PM to Kyiv, amid the ongoing top level Chinese-Russian talks in Moscow, is refreshing.

Perfect planning.

This is going to become one of my favourite soundbites from any foreign minister I have interviewed. I asked @DmytroKuleba what was behind the creative diplomacy Ukraine had shown during the war:

Heads of States that the International Criminal Court has indicted: Omar al-Bashir (Sudan), Muammar Gaddafi (Libya), Laurent Gbagbo (Ivory Coast), Vladimir Putin (Russia).

Those who say that 17 MiGs isn’t enough are right. But 17 MiGs is way more than zero, and we should be thankful to our friends.🇵🇱🇸🇰♥️

Yes, nobody is going to arrest Putin, and the war won’t end tomorrow.

But this is a crucial decision. Putin is now officially a wanted fugitive. It’s a mark, and he’ll be treated as such.

I’m sure this is only the beginning.

BREAKING: The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin for forcibly deporting (kidnapping) Ukrainian children.

THIS IS MASSIVE!

China is Russia’s most important ally one way or the other.

Now, is the question how far are they willing to go in their support.

President Andrzej Duda says 4 Polish MiG-29 fighter jets will be transferred to Ukraine within the coming days.

No, Mr. Zelensky, you can't speak at the Oscars, that's politics. But we'll give an Oscar to "Navalny", that's not politics. And Navalny's wife will speak, that's also not politics. But she won't mention her country's invasion of Ukraine, because... Yeah, you got it.

Russia in 2020s, two Nobel Peace Prizes, one Academy Award, one genocide.

So Navalny people took the stage in Los Angeles to talk about Russia, saying that they want their country to be free.

Free from who? Russians? Because most Russian are perfectly fine with what’s going on in their country and what their country is doing in Ukraine.

Today’s Russian mass missile strike doesn’t make sense.

There are two names published online. In both cases, family and comrades say it may be him. One was killed in late December and his body was returned in February. He was buried soon after. The other soldier, whose name is widely shared, was taken prisoner in early February.

The @nytimes is so disparate to have “pluralism of opinions” that they publish an oped by a guy with zero relevant experience saying that Ukraine will lose.

Replying to @mrsorokaa
The problem with this opinion is not that someone can think Russia will win, there’s obviously such possibility, but that a trusted news outlet is willing to provide its readers with opinions of people that lack the expertise on a given subject. That’s misleading readers.

We left the office at 2:40am. In the cab home I hear Blinken go live, saying Russia is set to move in.

Soon a video pops up with unidentified soldiers storming a checkpoint, less than an hour later Putin starts his speech. Kyiv is bombed.
