I just don’t understand how it’s reasonable to expect what could be millions of people and small businesses, who suddenly had their incomes cut off, to pay rent, mortgages, & major bills on Apr 1st without any payment moratoriums or immediate relief.

Thank you Congresswoman for asking the obvious but essential questions.

AOC, we need you to start pushing a #GeneralStrike.... be our Eugene Debs. You have a big enough voice that we can really do this.

Isn't it weird that the majority of people living paycheck to paycheck are expected to have six months or year of personal savings for emergencies while billion-dollar corporations are so poorly managed they're on the brink of bankruptcy after a week of reduced profits?

In reply to @AOC
I don't understand why @AOC is in congress when she hates America.

In reply to @AOC
The fact that they are going to TAX the $1200 is absolutely spiteful and cruel. Canada just passed a bill giving their citizens $2k a month. Should we frame this as, "Can Americans *at least* get the same treatment as our neighboring countries?"

In reply to @AOC
It's moments like these that clarify that you know real people and so few in power do.

On hold with Wells Fargo to confirm that they will defer 3 months but On the 4th month the whole entire 3 months amount is all due. If that’s the case it’s NOT help.

It's almost like most lawmakers are out of touch with working people.

In reply to @AOC
Maybe if people were responsible and had an emergency savings, they might be able to pay thier bill's during a temporary set back.

In reply to @AOC
They expect people to go back to work. So many are going to die and media will blame it on "irresponsible" people trying to not be homeless or starve going back to work.

In reply to @AOC
Oh Em FG how about they live within their means and save up and keep a nest egg for a rainy day. Your whole platform is based on rewarding bad choices.

Socialism does not work. Ask the USSR.

In reply to @AOC
I don't think most of your colleagues in the House and Senate have any idea what's about to happen next week when half the country cant pay any of their bills. They're so far removed from having to worry about that, they just can't comprehend it.

$1200 is way too low

AND NOT FREEZING FICO & NEGATIVE CREDIT REPORTING!!!! How in the hell are people EVER going to climb out of this once the pandemic has come & gone?

Its called personal responsibility, self reliance. Humans are capable of preparing & saving for unexpected events. It is only liberals that think people are not & therefore have to feed at the teat of Govt.

In reply to @AOC
It's easy. Our government works for the 1%.

How many small businesses could have been helped, how much rent could have been paid with the $300M diverted to helping illegal aliens, $100M to fund the JFK performance arts center or the $25M to the House slush fund?

Simple, Alex. It's called a Class War. How long will it be before the people rise up and revolt is the question.

In reply to @AOC
Do you realize that rents and mortgages are how some people get paid so that they can pay their OWN bills?

And why did @SpeakerPelosi block #EmergencyUBI then celebrate leaving 80% of workers & 100% of the poor out of the previous bailout scams?

Why are both parties leadership embracing wealth transfer to corporations, wall street, banking, military & starvation & chaos for us?

In reply to @AOC
We are debt payers to them, nothing more nothing less. We work so we can pay debts, they sell debt so they don't have to work!

You may want to see the Fifth Amendment's Takings Clause. You can institute a moratorium, but you gotta pay all the banks and landlords. I know how much you'd love to do that. 🤷‍♂️

Democrat bill includes the following: - $25M for the Kennedy Center - $350M for Migration and Refugee Assistance - $100M for NASA - $75M for PBS/NPR - $75 for both the National Endowment of Arts & Humanities This does not help Americans!

I don't understand how a Pandemic translates to Washington giving themselves raises while the hard working American people won't be able to pay their bills!

Has anyone in Congress read Bernie's plan. It considers everything and offers a brilliant solution, short and long term.

Nobody expects. However you, as an American representative, should tell it to American banks and Wall Street firms.

In reply to @AOC
It's far from reasonable. Our elected "leadership" doesn't serve us though, they serve their donors. I'm waiting for enough people to get uncomfortable enough to finally realize we don't have to take it anymore. #RentStrike #GeneralStrike

most people i know have rent payments higher than $1.2k and a lot of them have lost work and income from this crisis. including myself. we need a lot more help

This is such an important point. States and cities are individually stepping up but unless we put in place a national moratorium on evictions and foreclosures, we’re on a path to a massive spike in homelessness—amid a pandemic. #COVID19

I just don’t understand how it’s reasonable to expect House Democrats would deserve a pay raise when what could be millions of people and small businesses have suddenly had their incomes cut off!

You’re still cashing your checks....So what do you care.??

I don’t understand prioritizing illegal immigrants, museums, and carbon emissions during a pandemic. Your party did that. #Democrats #coronavirus #CoronavirusUSA #IWillStayAtHome

In reply to @AOC
I don't think it is reasonable to crash the economy, cut off millions of small businesses, and wreak havoc with the General Welfare of the nation all over a virus that only effects a small percentage of the population anyway. Economic hardship will kill more than the virus.

How is this different from taxes being due & taken from paychecks before people can buy food or shelter? Pass The #FAIRtax & move taxes to individual wealth as consumed (new retail spending above the poverty level ONLY) and let people take care of themselves first. ##UnTaxPoverty

Here is an idea. During the Great Recession the banks and large corporations got bailouts while the people lost their jobs, life savings and homes. How about banks be required to forbear three months of payments till the end of the loan? How about helping the people this time ?

In reply to @AOC
Cannot understand how we expect a small business to take out a LOAN to pay their employees during shutdowns without the small business getting any revenue producing work by those employees. That would seem to guarantee rejection by most truly small businesses.

In reply to @AOC
They didn't teach that in bartending school?

In reply to @AOC
No one does. The government doesn't work for the PEOPLE and has since loooooong been hijacked by special interests and 1%.

As usual, the cruelty is the point

In reply to @AOC
You're spending the $2T wrong. Instead of using it to bail out loser companies, you should send a one-time check for $38,000 to every family whose income is below the median. That would be one hell of an economic stimulus! Corporate welfare only teaches helplessness.

I don’t know how any of you are still Republican at this point. If you’re paying attention to Congress, you know who’s been fighting for us.

In reply to @AOC
I'm surprised you can spell "moratorium".

In reply to @AOC
A 1 time payment of $1200 is nowhere near enough esp. when Canada is giving their citizens $2000 for 4 months. And the $1200 shouldn't be taxed either. Every adult American should get $1500-2000 for 3-4 months. And utilities & rent/mortgages should be suspended for 3 months too.

It's not reasonable... The banks should take a hit. Bail out citizens and small businesses this time!

can y’all please add a rent freeze to this bill before i make april’s payment 🥴
