Should the police be banned from taking the knee?

The new Met Police Commissioner, Sir Mark Rowley, has suggested that officers shouldn't do it.

Speaking to the Sunday Times, Sir Mark claimed the police are 'not aligned with any protest group'.

Do you think he's right?

Yes, I'm all for taking the knee, but police officers need to maintain a certain distance from things. They are there to do a job. Not express their opinions, or opinions of any group.

Police officers should stick to policing and stay out of politics and all the rainbow stuff

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Totally agree!.. Police should not be seen to be aligning with any group/political organisation, they should be seen to be neutral. Their jobs are tough enough as it is!

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
They have been told to pack that in by their new boss. Absolutely the right decision, like football matches have ceased taking the knee. It's an empty gesture associated with extremist factions of the BLM movement.

Oh god....not Leroy Logan again.... There are better contributers.

Aren’t we over this already?! 🤦🏼‍♂️

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Aren't the police meant to be impartial?

Why are none of the MSM talking about Leicester???

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
They should be A political whilst on duty.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
No, sir Mark is just trying to please the snowflake racists.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Ban it? Shouldn’t of bloody done it in the first place. The officers that initially did it, didn’t do it to show solidarity. They did it to appease the masses they were meant to be policing so they could have an easier shift.

When did you last see this happen ?

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Absolutely. No political actions, no dancing at pride, no badges. If they cannot separate their duties from their personal thoughts and feelings, they're in the wrong job

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
I had to switch off. Carole Malone's high pitched and incessant voice talking over everyone is annoying.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
#jeremyvine Nobody should be kneeling for any group. All lives matter or no lives matter. Nobody is special. Everybody treated equally is the way to go.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Carole is such a disgusting human being. A Senior Met Officer admitted only a few months ago that racisim exists in the Met. A number of Met Officers have been sacked this year for racisim. The Met Police are 4 times more likely to use force against Black People

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
It should be no more acceptable than a Hitler salute.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
I feel it's become a empty gesture, but what else can people do to show support?

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
The male panelest is on drugs😂😂🙄

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
No but perhaps knee pads.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Anything that involves people of colour standing up for themselves is a political matter

They should stop taking the knee, so should footballers and the labour party

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
It’s just performative gesture and meaningless if racism and other forms of discrimination continues in their ranks. Whose taken in by then taking the knee?

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Absolutely the police need to be seen as impartial.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Yes .And no dancing at parades either. A yes I'm not much fun at parties.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Shouldn't take the knee, they should be a Police Force and not be doing jobs that should come under social services. The prosecution rates for rapes, assaults and street theft are so low now there is no fear of jail. We need a far more focused approach to policing no to posturing

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Off duty and out fo uniform ok in uniform and on duty no kneeling no dancing and wearing rainbow hats etc police should be independent of all that regardless of personal beliefs

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Yes they should not take the knee

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Definitely police have been ridiculous for too long. Get on with fighting crime

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Yes absolutely, they’re paid to do a job

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
I think Black Liquid Matters and enables lot of everyday practical stuff to be made, so in agreement.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
How can you take the knee and then kick the punters in the teeth? It's unfair on the Super...

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
I remember when police had discretion and acted according to the situation they fibs themselves in. Now its all about orders and micromanagement which hinders community relations. If the police are not to be political, when is Rowley announcing investigations into Tory fraud?

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Yes they should be stopped as well as them dancing they are there to do a job not to be everyone's best friend this is why there's so much trouble nobody is scared of them

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Why are the police supporting anti-semitic terrorist lovers? heritage.org/middle-east/co…

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Where will it end, will Police officers end up being unable to wear their thin blue line Union Flag patches?

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
It is a POLITICAL STATEMENT - it should be BANNED! Having respect for all colours creeds and religions is done in their everyday work - you should not have to bow to BLM RACISTS to be a policeman! (Person!!!)

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Police should just Police.
