What do you make of the government's new winter NHS plan?

The Health Secretary is expected to announce GPs will have to see patients within two weeks, and the government will also call on volunteers to come forward and help out - like during the pandemic.

Will it work?

It's all good being said but in reality it won't happen. Ring your doctor at 8.30am this morning, 23rd in the queue or thereabouts, get through and there no appointments left. So no this new health plan won't help because there just isn't enough doctors! #JeremyVine

You can't run a heath service by relying on volunteers. Investment in training and recruitment has been needed over the past 12 yrs but deliberately been withheld. Post grad medics paid to defer taking up completely their training. It's a costly scandal to promote private health.

I鈥檇 like to see the detail rather than yet another headline grabbing sound bite. How exactly does she think she鈥檚 going to solve the GP crisis?

Politicians never ever look at what they can do to improve anything under their care. They only ever have a single objective and that is to see how much money they can save from the budgets. That鈥檚 why everything politicians touch turns to merd.

Easy to say, won't ever happen.

So now Doctors are 鈥榝orced鈥 to see patients but for 2 years they didn鈥檛 have to see you??? Talk about a reverse gear FFS!!

NHS can pay locum doctors agency staff much more than they pay to their contracted staff ..scrap the agency ..pay more to your own staff instead

The government clearly want the nhs to crumble further to nudge into privatisation.

Maybe politicians should govern the country voluntarily to save money!

They go part time because they get paid so well. Food for thought.

Maybe get energy companies to provide energy voluntarily to save the country from a financial crisis?

It won鈥檛 work

If we stopped paying the doctors for doing injections that do not stop infection or transmission and left that to the nurses, then the doctors could get on with their real job. I am sure the nurses would be grateful for the extra cash. @theresecoffey
