Do you think No.10 is right to introduce tougher rules on part time workers claiming benefits?

The Chancellor is expected to announce a shake-up of the benefits system.

But it could affect over 120,000 people on Universal Credit.

Is that fair?

Some people already work 10-2pm every day so they don't have to pay out for childcare fees, which can be like a 2nd mortgage. Employer doesn't pay enough, so benefits stop you going below poverty line. Some people just work to cover childcare!

Tories don't understand the real world! Even with 2 wages and people working full-time, people get tax credits, because they just don't earn enough to survive. How many more hours do you want people to work, they need too have a life and family time?!

The only incentives government ever comes up with are disincentives. When things are hard they appear to think making them harder will make you perform better to their demands. They’re here to rule us no longer to represent us.

Better idea, rather than reduce benefits, tax MPs 2nd salaries at 95% to fund the poor. Why is it OK for them to get £80k/yr, a second/third job and still get allowances to pay their bills but not OK for the Govt to support the poor. Typical Tory addled thinking.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Yes. I have to work full time for my money.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Part time? The way I read the briefing it was for full-time workers too, saying they should find extra work?

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Yes, it is very fair to stop this. Even DWP workers abuse the system by going part time and claiming it

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
How do you manage to work the word fair into this post? Serious question.

How many more metaphorical kickings are the poor meant to take?.. You all know what the answer is, but yet the likes of you continue to push this governmental cr*p! pic.twitter.com/qRa4vRGOik

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
No-one should be allowed to sit around on benefits, albeit wages should be improved so that work always pays

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Tories have never bothered about the poorest except to blame them for the country's woes. Despicable people.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
No, but he seems to laugh at everything.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Give them £15:00 a hour then the worker's wouldn't want help.PUT THE WAGES UP

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Be nice if they helped part timers like myself struggling with a mortgage and household bills ! Penalised for doing well and owning my home.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
How do these twats get to say… do they have to decide to heat or eat..!!! Cut their ‘wages’ stop expenses, 2nd homes. Wanting people to argue amongst ourselves and it’s Bluddy working 🤦🏻‍♀️ dear me!! They give money to billionaires and letting our elders starve and freeze 😡😡

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
If he makes cut backs at the moment we'll certainly see more suicides 😞😞

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Of course it’s not fucking fair!! What a stupid question @JeremyVineOn5 - #ToryCorruption

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Make them either work full time, or live off their part time wage. It’s their choice, why should I and other workers subsidize them

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Yea typical tory mantra when times are hard give the rich extra and hammer the ones at the bottom to pay for it

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
What’s he going to do, has it been announced yet or are you speculating, stirring up people before anything has been announced. Let’s wait & see what he says before you rant about what hasn’t happened yet.

I can’t work, I’ve been disabled most my life. I did work when I could. I’ve lost £800pm, my daughter has started an apprenticeship. Working 24hrs pw earning minimum wage. I can’t cover my bills, shop every week,I do volunteer, I feel like I’m being punished for being disabled.

Here is the estimate of fraud as indicated by the Government gov.uk/government/sta… you are all trying to be armchair managers.

I wonder if @mikeparry8 records the BS he comes out with then plays it back to see what a plonker he really is. Where are all these vacancies he blurts on about? Simple geography & cost would prevent anyone from accepting the job. He should try living in the real world for once

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Yes I know people that only work 16 hours so it doesn't affect hand out if they worked full time thay would be on less that's what's wrong

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
No it's not fair, those who choose to get off their arses and work should not be punished. Those who choose to spend dole money on drugs should be punished.

2/2 Till we follow system that address putting the poorest first, Providing those worse off, limiting support for the Richest. Till that day,we will always have poor amongst us, even further in greater numbers. SYSTEM ERROR. While Tories govern this system will attack the poorest pic.twitter.com/ugIX6UfFuy

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
It’s the system set up by governments that encourages part-time, low paying work that needs to be addressed. The government encourages this if everyone was paid a decent wage, ie enough to support a family, we wouldn’t need such a bloated benefit system.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
it's illegal not to draw/take your child benefit so stop opening your mouth & letting your brain fart eh

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
MPs work part time how the hell do they get away with the amount of time they are off ?

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Tories attacking the poor, whatever next.....

Tories have never been fair

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
How about lifting the minimum wage to a genuine living one and increases align with inflation with a minimum 2% regardless

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
We need a General Election.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
What will those rules be? Until we know we can't decide if it's fair or not.

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
I have to give up my stable part-time job of 14 years because it was wearing me out (as I have CP) and wanted to concentrate on my own business! So yeah I’m on UC, I also get PIP (used to get DLA)

Yes some people do work low hours to claim benefit but also not everybody can work full time

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
Of fuck off Jeremy,

In reply to @JeremyVineOn5
A lot of people working 20 hours getting it topped up with universal credit when some could be doing more hours but will lose money so won’t do it
