@Noahpinion This nonsense is spread by folks that have zero understanding of the industry. Mining facilities are vastly build near hydro power plants. Why? Because they create oversupply of power that can’t be stored. BTC miners gobble up some of the oversupply before it is wasted in nature.

@Noahpinion I remember when Bitcoin was like, sort of neat if suspect, with funny headlines every time the market inevitably dipped.

@Noahpinion The traditional banking infrastructure and FIAT currency systems are significantly more environmentally unfriendly when you consider transportation, material costs, so on and so on. Don't forget to add to that the number of people involved in sustaining the FIAt sys.

@Noahpinion When Bitcoin starts getting put on sanctions lists that number ought to take a pretty hard hit.
@Noahpinion The thing that doesn't capture is the carbon released by it. I know that, as a whole, it's more green than the average power since $ per kWH is wildly important, therefore it likes hydroelectric, geothermal, etc. Ideally, can push harder for use cases for more green energy.
